I already use Nintendo Wii as a tool for my ADD son's math and reading, and it's made quite a positive impact on his skill.

You don't really know what you're talking about and the mods don't flush troll threads like these anyway, so go ahead and bash away I guess. You don't know what you're talking about and if past threads are any indication of future results you won't anytime soon, either

So what happened to the "they're going to do it anyway" crowd?

I suspect that if this were a "safe sex" badge there would be much less hubub.

I am fine being terrible at video games. The time that most spend at getting good at video games I will have been either studying, reading, hanging out with friends, going to school events, or sports. I mean I am only good at sports games because they aren't hard to play and CoD2 because the shotgun has like a 40 yard range and you can't suck with it.

So what you have is scouts, who never have focused solely on physical activities, trying to channel the interest kids already have in video games into constructive paths, giving them merit badges for playing games with an educational component. Further, this is in addition to several other merit badges that emphasize physical activities.

Nothing to see here except some retarded hysteria.
Actually Redress the guidelines for getting the medal is a lot more complex.

    Complete these three requirements:

    1. Explain why it is important to have a rating system for video games. Check your video games to be sure they are right for your age.
    2. With an adult, create a schedule for you to do things that includes your chores, homework, and video gaming. Do your best to follow this schedule.
    3. Learn to play a new video game that is approved by your parent, guardian, or teacher.

Earn the Video Games belt loop and complete five of the following requirements:

    1. With your parents, create a plan to buy a video game that is right for your age group.
    2. Compare two game systems (for example, Microsoft Xbox, Sony PlayStation, Nintendo Wii, and so on). Explain some of the differences between the two. List good reasons to purchase or use a game system.
    3. Play a video game with family members in a family tournament.
    4. Teach an adult or a friend how to play a video game.
    5. List at least five tips that would help someone who was learning how to play your favorite video game.
    6. Play an appropriate video game with a friend for one hour.
    7. Play a video game that will help you practice your math, spelling, or another skill that helps you in your schoolwork.
    8. Choose a game you might like to purchase. Compare the price for this game at three different stores. Decide which store has the best deal. In your decision, be sure to consider things like the store return policy and manufacturer's warranty.
    9. With an adult's supervision, install a gaming system.

Yeah, I saw that, but I doubted it would matter to those who want to get hysterical over this, or who don't bother to read source material.

WTF create a plan with your parents to buy a game right for your age. So it would be like hey mom can we go to Target and buy Madden please? Seriously...
