crist will make a splash but he will not sustain

ie, his poll numbers will be at their peak now

Election 2010: Florida Senate - Rasmussen Reports

he refuses to say, as of today, with whom he'll caucus

even if he declared, no one would really believe him

he's all over the place, on education, on the stimulus, on offshore oil...

    on his own party affiliation

he's desperate, he looks desperate, he's done

prepare for a teabagger to take the sunshine state

    keystone country, as well

RealClearPolitics - 2010 Pennsylvania Senate Race

    a teabagger winning pennsylvania---now, that's sea change

    watch PA12, murtha's seat, may 22

    Not exactly...

When the GOP tried to pander to the teabaggers by passing that bill that would base teacher pay on student performance, there was a major outcry against that by Florida voters, Democrats as well as Republicans. Enough that it caused Crist to veto the bill. Rubio supported that bill, however. So it would be possible that Crist would get the votes of conservative Democrats and moderate Republicans.

It was more than the teacher unions who were against that bill.

That veto did garner him a lot of respect from a lot of people, myself included. Pragmatism over kowtowing to the popular partisan position is something that is SEVERELY lacking in our body politics, and it looks like this is exactly the angle that Crist is going to play with his campaign.

This is going to be one hell of an interesting race, and as Dav mentioned, it is anyone's ball game at this point, but being positioned in the middle cushion on the sofa, Crists seems to be the best positioned.

Can he sell the pragmatic moderate trying to do what is best, or will Meeks and Rubio be able to find ammo to snipe his credibility and portray him as an opportunist?

and yet if crist had kept his oft repeated pledge to run as a republican, he'd have signed it

I think Meeks should now be considered the favorite. There are a lot of people, especially in SE Florida that are reflexive democrats. So he has a good base to start with. He can sit back for a few months while the others kill each other, then step in a sweep the election.

It will be interesting if we get a replay in NV. Perhaps the teaparty candidate will do the same thing Crist is doing and let Reid sneak in.

Nope. He did right by the state of Florida in vetoing that bill. It's those state legislators who supported that bill who are the problem.

Where will they find such a person? The public gets to choose between 2 or 3 people who will lie and steal ( my opinion). So the choice is arounf the edges who will line their pockets. Most major corporations give to both sides, so their bets are covered.
