Actually, LAmidRighter also lives down here. Sazerac lives down here. There are several of us down here, posting. And, we all seem to agree on this point. WE DON'T NEED THE PRESIDENT DOWN HERE DISTRACTING PEOPLE FROM THEIR JOBS.

This is not a political issue that needs to be addressed with speeches by the president. The people involved are doing everything in their power to fix this horrific event.

We need the president to stay out of the way. Fixing the financial markets is somewhere that he could actually do something. He can't bail oil from the gulf and make a difference.

Down here, we understand the ramifications of this disaster. We know what is happening to the places we love. The president can't help that.

As dawn broke Thursday in the oil industry hub of Venice, about 75 miles from New Orleans and not far from the mouth of the Mississippi River, crews loaded an orange oil boom aboard a supply boat at Bud's Boat Launch. There, local officials expressed frustration with the pace of the government's response and the communication they were getting from the Coast Guard and BP officials.

"We're not doing everything we can do," said Billy Nungesser, president of Plaquemines Parish, which straddles the Mississippi River at the tip of Louisiana.

There's a growing tension in towns like Port Sulphur and Empire along the Louisiana coast, which runs south of New Orleans along the Mississippi River into prime oyster and shrimping waters.

Oil slick poses political peril for Obama - Washington Times

Are you laughing at this tragedy, because it provides you with another perceived opportunity to attack the president?

Well, he laughed at the death toll of US troops in Afghanistan, so we know he is capable of it.

no, i'm laughing at your pissy personalisms

just like the president's

LOL!

there's nothing funnier than a personality whore

like obama

The issue of sewage in the gulf is minor compared to agricultural runoff from the northern states via the Mississippi and other rivers that flow into the gulf.

The Dead Zone | Healthy Waters | Our Work

Florida has been engaged in a legal fight for YEARS with Georgia over keeping the rivers healthy to protect our local environment and seafood industry.

However, an oil spill this massive will pose major harm.

And, the Florida gulf coast is some of the most beautiful stretch of unspoiled water and beaches in the world. Far cleaner, clearer, and bluer than the Atlantic.

Frankly, we don't miss tourists like you.

I'm not exactly a tourist. I live in Florida.

Anyway, I think you misunderstood the cynicism and sarcasm in my post, directed at those who think the spill is minor.

hypocrites are funnier.. like someone ragging about someone he feels is a "personality whore" being ineffectual because he was in the wrong part of the country, and was not being a personality whore via some feel good public photo op to manufacture the appropriate image of responsiveness. Methinks had he done as much you would be criticizing him for that instead though.

You are lagging on the "Events Obama attended today" game
The corespondents dinner needs to be your next target it is now all the rage. You should be harping on them for not moving the event onto a bunch of rubber rafts bobbing up and down on oil soaked crests with members of the press in full attendance.. heck we could have even gave Obama a bucket.. that would show the lemmings how he is doing something about it for sure!
