RIP Offshore Drilling. A really bad idea to begin with. It does nothing for us.

Why I am posting the Igloo Idiot's words is that she loves to hear herself run her ignorant mouth saying sound bites and worse yet her supporters consume that crap as if it was good wine.

Why haven't we heard heard from Joe The plumber it's a wonder that bufoon hasn't said anything about how easy he could have fixed the leak with his monkey wrench.

Or maybe he was referring to Palin - the monkey wench !!

    I love it!

Can we just refer to her as "IIC"? (ICK!) This gives you the same nails-on-chalk-board feeling that her words and voice sound like!

“An estimated 5,000 barrels a day of oil are flowing from the well, and officials said it could take up to 90 days to cap it, making for volumes that could exceed the 1989 Exxon Valdez disaster in Alaska and a 1969 accident in Santa Barbara, Calif.” — The Wall Street Journal†

200,000 gallons of oil a day does nothing for us? Are you serious??

    Brilliant.

So what do we do about the other ~1400 rigs in the Gulf that haven't had an accident? Yeah, let's go ahead and shut them off, spike the price of oil overnight, and become even more beholden to our great friends like Hugo Chavez.

    ****ing brilliant idea, champ.

Too bad the people determined to prevent US energy independence don't waste any effort thiking things through.

How old was that rig? How old will the oil rigs built in future be? (Brand new.)

What safety rule was broken to cause the explosion? You can guarantee that some rule was broken, either in maintenance, inspection, or operations, and you can't argue convincingly that corners were cut because god knows the men working on the damn rig are 100% aware of the fact that they're maybe hundreds of miles from land, they're working with flammable liquids and explosive gases, and it's their asses that get crisped. So there's not likely to be any significant flaw in the rules, someone goofed somewhere.

Is an act of Congress required to shut down an entire industry whenever a single person makes a mistake regarding circumstances already covered by law and regulation and corporate policies? (no, of course not)

Is American energy independence more important than hysterical fears about unlikely accidents? (yes, of course)

Is defunding terrorist and socialist and inimical nations more important than hysterical fears about unlikely accidents? (yes, of course)

And people are biting their nails that someone might burn the oil spill before it becomes so dispersed it can't burn and there's nothing left to do but get out the dish soap to wash the egrets?
    You forgot one question.

Does the need to drill offshore out weigh any enviormental impact no mater how serious?

I am conservative, and as a conservative and an outdoorsman this really pisses me off. I fish the lousiana coast for redfish. That area contains 40% of North Americas wetlands. Wetlands that are a critical part of the central flyway for millions of waterfowl.

They are saying this leak could take 90+ days to stop. There are 42 US gallons in a barrel. At a rate of 5,000 barrels a day or 210,000 gallons thats 18,900,000 gallons of crude oil leaking almost a mile beneath the surface 50 miles offshore. That oil will spread to where the currents and wind take it.

I find your attempt to minimalize this tragedy to be disgusting. How can anyone not see the seriousness of this situation. We are talking about a coastal ecosystem that is allready in trouble. Part of the reason Katrina was so bad is because the marshes are disapearing.

I think I know who was in that car accident, too. That person obviously suffered serious head trama.

One failure out of 1400 is what ... 0.07%? Yeah, let's scrap the whole deal. Obviously that's too dangerous.

If we applied Liberal logic to other things, then if we have to stop drilling over one bad rig, then x170 do we need to not only remove Obama'Care but criminalize any help from a doctor.
