Re: Economists: The stimulus didn't help

The stimulus has failed to get peopled working again. Hundreds of billions of dollars spent and millions have no job.

And nothing has been done to make sure this doesn't happen again.

Yet millions more might have no job without the stimulus.

And nothing has been done to make sure this doesn't happen again.
That's true, and outrageous. We'll see if financial reform grows teeth.

Re: Economists: The stimulus didn't help

    POLITICALLY, the stimu...

i mean, POLITICALLY the RECOVERY ACT is a demonstrable dud

just LAST WEEK---while the gulf was gushing goo---mr obama made his SECOND TRIP to IOWA this year, this time to sell the stimu...

i mean, to sell the RECOVERY ACT

In Greeting Iowa Voters, Obama Focuses on Finances - NYTimes.com

his own poor, put out employees are apparently not permitted to bespeak the profanity

    etc

there is little argument that POLITICALLY the stimu...

the RECOVERY ACT is a LOSER

it's probably because its BIG PICTURE ECONOMICS have been so ineffective

he said unemployment would cap at 8% with its passage, the point of the problem

Re: Economists: The stimulus didn't help

the main AUTHOR of the stimu...

i mean, the major ARCHITECT of the RECOVERY ACT, david obey (pronounced obie) QUIT today

David Obey won't seek reelection - David Rogers - POLITICO.com

    !!!

    that's a beltway BOMBSHELL!

OBEY quitting is clearly as BIG as the RESIGNATIONS of evan bayh and byron dorgan

far more SIGNIFICANT than the departures of patrick kennedy, robt wexler, neil abercrombie...

obey WAS house appropriations for, like, ever

he's been in the house for more than FORTY YEARS

a very SERIOUS blow to LEADERSHIP is his departure

in november he SLAMMED the admin for all those phony jobs and phantom districts in the stimu...

i mean, in the RECOVERY ACT

David Obey Slams Obama Administration for Errors in Reporting Stimulus Job Gains

probably cuz obama and buddies made obey look so dumb, being author of the stimu...

    bid obey a bighearted goodbye

So your reasoning is that because unemployment isn't 0%, it "failed?"

Re: Economists: The stimulus didn't help

No one knows what would have happened without the stimulus.....the unemployment comp extensions, tax credits and cuts and money for the states. We might have fallen into another great depression..........and we still might. Then they would have been crucified for doing nothing. Remember the stimulus was Bernanke's idea and Bush started it in the spring of '08.

    Bottom line.
The economy must have been in much worse shape than estimated.

Promised? I don't think so. Claimed? Maybe.
