i'm not excusing pedophilia, i think its disgusting, but it was the societal norm at the time, and you can't hold anyone from over a thousand years ago to todays societal standards.

Who made that rule that you cant hold someone who lived in a different time to todays standard?....a pedophile or a muslim trying to make excuses for the sick deeds of thier prophet. A peophile is a pedophile no mater what century he lived in. By the way not only was Mohammad a pedophile he was also a lier, rapist, thief, and murderer. Fine example he was. Its no wonder honour killings, suicide bombings, beheadings, torture and pedophilia are prevelent in muslim societies today. Im not saying that those things do not happen in other cultures but they are not accepted.

I'm certain that all of the key figures of Christianity only took brides over 18. They checked their IDs. And it's not like there are any hero-murderers in the Bible...Right?

That wasn't the topic of conversation here. No one made any claim that Christianity was faultless.

But please, show me a pedophile in the Bible and I will be happy to condemn him, too, if it will make you feel better.

It is illogical for any Muslim to consider Muhammad 'the perfect being' but only because the Koran itself says differently. ;)

The intellectually honest people are not those who are looking for an excuse to condone having sex with 9 year old children simply because those who engage in such acts are part of their group.

by your logic, we should hold the american founding fathers as criminals because slavery is a crime against humanity, and they owned slaves.

what he did was wrong, i'm not arguing that, but it was the society he was raised in, murder and pedophilia were all part of the society of middle east, and applying todays standards to mohammed is just ridiculous.

Two issues here, the first being that they should be open to criticism for owning slaves. There is nothing compelling us to condone them other than our own self-made preconceptions. Secondly, nobody today is suggesting we own slaves because they did, as their ownership has absolutely no bearing on how we view the subject today.

Most religious belief is illogical to begin with, so the logic of the matter means less than the actual belief.

Mohammad's personal example is being used to justify behaviors today, and this is because so many DO consider him to be perfect. Heck, you can't even draw the man without causing outrage among millions and millions.

It is perfectly valid to look at a historical person within a historical context. If you have a problem with that, good for you.

Norris told KIRO Radio's Dave Ross that cartoonists are meant to challenge the lines of political correctness. "That's a cartoonist's job, to be non-PC."

Producers of South Park said Thursday that Comedy Central removed a speech about intimidation and fear from their show after a radical Muslim group warned that they could be killed for insulting the Prophet Muhammad.
The group said it wasn't threatening South Park producers Trey Parker and Matt Stone, but it included a gruesome picture of Theo Van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker killed by a Muslim extremist in 2004, and said the producers could meet the same fate. The website posted the addresses of Comedy Central's New York office and the California production studio where South Park is made.
"As a cartoonist I just felt so much passion about what had happened I wanted to kind of counter Comedy Central's message they sent about feeling afraid," Norris said.

I like the idea.Either all religions are subject to jokes,scorn,ridicule or offense or none are. Which is why comedy central pissed me off by censoring those episodes of South Park. Its nothing more than hypocrisy on their part seeing how they practically allow everyone,group or religion to be made fun of, but Islam is some how protected.

It is not a rule, it is common sense.

Just out of interest, how old do you reckon Mary was when she gave birth to Jesus? Jesus was obviously a product of a peadophilic relationship seeing the age of marriage and consent is 18 in some countries.

And no, Prophet Mohammed is not the perfect being, he was a human being. Only God is perfect

Out of all the things to attack Islam on, it always does make me laugh people start on him and his marriage to Aisha. I mean, get over it. There is no evidence to support it.
Which also explains why Muslims almost never takes Non Muslims view into consideration if that is their first line of attack. Out of all the surahs, hadiths, practices in Islam (Some of which are questionable and others that do deserve attacks) It's always the marriage. And seeing Europe was no better 1500 years ago, what moral ground do Westerners have?

And if Muslims today are being attacked for what Mohammed allegedly did 1500 years ago, I suppose I can attack Whites for what their ancestors did or countries for what they did?

And on topic, have a draw Mohammed day. I find it childish and pathetic but that is the price of freedom.

How is this there a Christian motivation to this? I see it as more as a defense of free speech reaction to the threats of people suffering from mass delusion the same as any other theist.

Yes, you're right Pete. Absolutely right. The guys who have had Jesus fighting Iraqi's, addicted to internet porn, ask a jew to kill him, was so worried about popularity that he put together a year 2000 party in celebration of him, tried to have an image of Muhammad essentially just sitting there definitely did it to prove "our religion is superior to theirs". The guys who had the Pope order the murder of dozens of people in bunny suits, who had a Catholic Bishop order the death of Jesus Christ, who had the entire Catholic hiarchy focusing on molesting children by the direction of a space spider, and whose priests kept scantily clad little young boys on leashes while trying to get into Satan's Super Sweet Sixteen party definitely were trying to show that "thier religion is superior than yours" by showing Muhammed in a bear suit.
