Something needs to be done in Arizona, but not this racist bill that allows reasonable suspicion because one is not white.
Here is a good solution, in a multi part format.
1) When someone is stopped for any crime, be it a felony, or just a traffic violation, a check is run on the suspect's immigration status. If he is illegal, he is then taken into custody, and deported. His car is impounded and sold, the proceeds going into the "Special Fund". His bank account is also seized, and put into the "Special Fund". More on this special fund later.
2) If an employer is caught knowingly employing illegal aliens, he is charged with a crime. Conviction carries an automatic 30 day jail sentence, and a $5,000.00 fine for each illegal alien employed. Part of the fine covers court costs, with the remainder going into the "Special Fund".
3) Now, what is this "Special Fund" all about? Border enforcement, of course. This fund is to be used by the Arizona National Guard to station troops on the border. If anyone comes across, they are arrested and sent back. If they come across in vehicles, those vehicles are impounded and sold, with the money going back into the "Special Fund". If anyone attempts to flee, after being told to stop, they are shot, and their bodies are sent back.
This would all be perfectly legal, as a California decision was that, in the area of existing Federal border enforcement, there is dual jurisdiction between the states and the Federal government. Also, there is no racial profiling involved, so that is no longer an issue.
Problem solved, and solved according to the Constitution.
I tend to agree with you. This law is going after the wrong people. If there were no jobs, no one would come here illegally.
1. I don't see why there is not a master database that police could check with their patrol car computers like employers are supposed to do before hiring anyone.
2. I would prefer a graduated penalty, i.e. $1,000. per illegal employee the first time --- $5,000. per illegal employee the second time --- 30 days jail per illegal employee the third time ---- Get caught again and its 1 year in jail and you're never allowed to own a business or have employees again.
3. Sounds good as is.
