If you accidently swallowed a Jellyfish maybe.
Ummmmm...huh?

Why is it "prickly" to think people should be responsible for the choices they make?
Salt is a nutrient required to survive. Is ammonia?
Cause I was making a joke about how hard it is to take salt out and immediately follows the prickly responses. Don't worry, I won't hold it against you this time.
I don't think any American is in danger even if the government cuts down on the amount allowed in processed food.

Oh you don't know? MSgt hates when I "educate" him about food.

I maybe in the minority, but I am not too against the idea of setting limits to salt in food. A lot of our food has salt in it that can lead to health problems.
MSgt also eats a bag of oreos and a can of mushrooms for dinner when left unsupervised.
There is a nutritional label on almost all food (or it is available on request) and on there is the amount of sodium, daily amount % of sodium, and serving size.
If people are exceeding their serving size or exceeding their daily % of sodium intake, that is the fault of the person.
Let me ask you, when do you place the blame on the individual?
He also only drinks organic milk once I told him how much pus was allowed in regular.
Once I have to pay for their health care!
Because some of your irresponsible choices do in fact affect others. Why is it "prickly" to think people should be responsible for the choices they make?

Beyond high blood pressure, hypertension, hardening of arteries, hardening of stool, water retention and gastric ulcers, recent research suggests that too much sodium can be attributed to bone loss as well. And bone loss is escalating among men, not just in women. If you happen to be on medicare/medicade I'm paying for your medications.
I don't think restricting the sodium content of prepackaged foods due to health or environmental concerns qualifies as "nanny state". I think protecting it's citizens from unnecessary harm is job one for the government. Besides, they aren't saying you can add table salt to your food if you want.
It wasn't prickly at all. I just get tired of people wanting to use federal law to replace common sense and personal responsibility.
I don't think any American is in danger if they just read the label on the package. A federal requirement I agree with, BTW.

I agree it is more about personal responsibility, but with the case of how much salt is in our food it gets difficult. I have to stay very pro-active in knowing how much sodium I put into my body and I have to read the labels of everything. Plus just reading the individual labels doesn't take into account that if you were to add it with something else that is a lot more sodium.
I am not saying they shouldn't put any salt in anything, but rather just not putting as much salt into things. But I do agree with you that people should read what we put into our bodies because it is sickening sometimes.

It's really hard to take the salt out of food.
I'd love to make the choice to add some salt or what ever. But once the salt is there it can not be taken out.
Don't eat processed food. Problem solved.
I am not even going to ask about that one.
I only drink whole milk that is from local dairies.
Here's a pretty safe way to avoid putting things in your body that you don't want in there: Eat unprocessed whole foods and be mindful of how you season them.
Wow...how hard was that? Processed foods aren't mean to be your diet. They are meant for the occasional convenience of not preparing a meal but you should not be ingesting them every day or even every week.
Clearly you've never seen friends.
If you get stung by a jellyfish, one way to sort it out is to pee on your wound, because the Ammonia will disenfect it. (I think this was proven to be false btw)
So I hang my head in shame for my pitiful joke
THE MORE YOU KNOW :2wave:
That's what I said. :2wave:
