There is a nutritional label on almost all food (or it is available on request) and on there is the amount of sodium, daily amount % of sodium, and serving size.

If people are exceeding their serving size or exceeding their daily % of sodium intake, that is the fault of the person.

Let me ask you, when do you place the blame on the individual?

Being on a sodium restricted diet it is very hard for me to keep within my sodium limit.

I am not even going to ask about that one.

I only drink whole milk that is from local dairies.

So then place it on the individual, not the food company. Because right now the food companies are complying with everything. It is people that cannot realize that a whole pile of food on a plate is not meant to be eaten in one serving.

Because some of your irresponsible choices do in fact affect others.

Beyond high blood pressure, hypertension, hardening of arteries, hardening of stool, water retention and gastric ulcers, recent research suggests that too much sodium can be attributed to bone loss as well. And bone loss is escalating among men, not just in women. If you happen to be on medicare/medicade I'm paying for your medications.

I don't think restricting the sodium content of prepackaged foods due to health or environmental concerns qualifies as "nanny state". I think protecting it's citizens from unnecessary harm is job one for the government. Besides, they aren't saying you can add table salt to your food if you want.

Well the only way you are going to get away from that is to live in the wilderness somewhere away from human contact. Your decision to live in a society does not give you a right to limit the liberties of others because you think that the natural responsibilities one has to society are just too damned much for you to bear.

Then go somewhere that you don't have to pay for medicare. However, the small amount you contribute to the public fund for medicare does not give you a right to regulate the personal decisions of society at large.

No, but you are restricting business practices based on the idea that the consumer should not have the choice in what to consume. If you can't handle the natural responsibilities to society that you incur by living in one, find somewhere away from people.
