Gun rights advocates rally in Washington, Virginia

They say that they are "angry" and that teir specific fear: " Americans' right to bear arms under the Second Amendment will be taken away."

They also claim that thay are not happy with "the direction the government's going in right now, and I believe that our Second Amendment rights are in trouble, "

Would someone who believes these peopel show the rest of us specific examples that our 2nd amenedment rights are going to be "taken away".

Also are these people just telling the big lie and hoping that no one will question it ?

Re: Gun rights advocates rally in Washington, Virginia

Well lets see what has happened over the last 50 or so years

In 1934 FDR thought placing an onerous tax on machine guns would get rid of the prohibition era gangs. He used the commerce clause to accomplish this unconstitutional bit of nonsense

in 1968 we had the GCA of 68. It banned mail order guns, it prevented me, someone who lives 15 minutes from KY from buying a handgun there, and it set forth recordkeeping of gun purchases. You also had to show IDs to get ammo though that was rescinded later on.

In 1986, in a violation of the senate rules etc Dem gun hater Congressman Hughes tried to derail the McClure Voker FOPA by attaching a ban on the ownership of any automatic weapon made after may 19, 1986 even though there had never been a case since the 1934 act of a machine gun legally owned being used in a crime save for a dayton cop killing someone with an uzi

In 1993 the dems with clinton passed the brady bill. Though part of it was stricken (mandates on the states) it forced waiting periods on people thus engaging in prior restraint

Then came the idiotic Clinton gun ban that banned the sale of scary looking guns and magazines that carried more than 10 rounds

Other proposals dems have floated included a punitive "arsenal tax" on anyone owning more than a thousand rounds (two weeks of practice for a serious shooter) or 20 guns, bans on all semi autos, bans on all handguns, bans on certain calibers , etc.

Yeah gun owners are paranoid--the dems never have any desire to infringe on our rights

I can't remember anything significant being said by the Obama administration on the issue. I'm not aware of any plans when it comes to gun control. It's being left up to the states, where it should be.

That is due to political reality and expedience.

Fact is that gun laws nation wide have only gotten less strict since Obama has taken office, and neither he or anyone in his administration has said a word about changing that trend.

Just because Obama has not spoke about it; their is plenty from his past in Chicago that state there is not a Gun Control law he does'nt like, But as stated above it is not politically expediant at this time to try to demonize Gun Owners, and you know if they could they would try to reinstate a much more draconian Brady Bill if they (Democrats) would. Remember the Ill. Sportsman club I believe that was there name were threatened court action for their Ad against Obama and his voting record. And alot of the loosening of Gun Laws in the states is do to Heller Decision and the Real Data being collected shows that most Gun Laws do not have anything with reducing gun violence, I believe that criminals are criminals for a reason they don't obey laws anyway, so most gun laws only hurt law-abiding citizens. also look at this administration's war of words about the Mexican border murders, they are claiming that the guns were all from the U.S. which over 90% were from defecting mexican army solidiers, But remember the Liberal Slogan Tell a Lie enough times people start believing it.

    really?

so you think Obama is a liar?

he supported a complete ban on handguns when he was a state legislator

he supported reinstating the Clinton Gun ban when he was a federal senator

He supported a complete ban on semi autos

so tell me-was he lying then or is he just a coward now?

Biden voted for every anti gun bill that came before him in the senate

he was a major architech of the clinton gun ban and said it was a "good first step"

so tell me, has he changed?

Oh do tell what has become less strict federally since Obama took office

I would love to hear that

Do you think Sotomayor would vote alongside Bush's two appointments on a gun issue?

They've been saying that since Nov. 2008. I know people who spent all the money they had at the time to stock up on ammo, buy and hide as many guns as they could... Have federal gun laws changed in the last 18mos?? Nope.

They also claim that thay are not happy with "the direction the government's going in right now, and I believe that our Second Amendment rights are in trouble, "
Right, the "they're coming for your guns" paranoia...

We can thank Glen Beck for this type of stupidity.

I think it's funny that their guns were unloaded -- very symbolic of their impotent rage.

The one's who protested in DC chose not to carry guns at all -- pussies.

Also, I have to say that fat people look funny in camouflage fatigues--in a ridiculous non-threatening sort of way. They look like big green salads walking around with gun belts stretched around their wastes... Fat men should take a lesson from fat college girls and stick to dark blue/black solids that hide their girth.
