"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

It's not going to happen, but like with just about anything, I think you guys underestimate the level of apathy in this country.

I hope that it's just extremist bluster in that article, really I do. But I have read much of the UN gun agenda and it is concerning, as well, the UN tries to play "world governing body" a little too much for my liking and they are sovereignity killers. All that being said I hope things never come to violence, but if this particular extremist is correct, I hope the UN gets a loud and clear message from the American people in the way of body counts. As well, I agree with you on apathy in this country, but you'd have to agree that many are starting to wake up.

I don't know. The only folks that I interact with who seem to give a **** are on DP. People are HERE because they give a crap.

Well, you're probably right. Not because, "it can't happen here", but because I don't think any country on the planet has the guts to put it's soldiers in such a position. However, you're only probably right.

This is true, but seemingly the subscribership has been increasing here, and nationally polling is starting to show(even though I hate polls they do have some usage) that people are becoming more politically involved on all sides of the issues so we can't know whether that momentum will continue or not, but I hope that people keep up the interest because we are at a time where discussion is sorely needed.

Though I agree that people are becoming slightly more involved, from what I see, most of these folks are ill-informed. They tend to get their information from "infotainment".

I'm 50/50 on that. The media in this country is horribly biased right now on every side of the aisle and it does us a disservice, then we have politicians who will say anything to get elected based on polls(which should be completely illegal BTW) and we never know where they stand. Then we have an electorate that just doesn't care. However I think the backend of the current theories are kicking in and the predicted results are starting to show in reality, when people start to see that things they enjoy are under attack, and that their paychecks are shrinking due to taxes while simultaneously not going as far, and then they see the rest of how they are being sold out it is starting to get people engaged. It's slow right now, but I see hope in the way the pace is increasing.
