Gun rights advocates rally in Washington, Virginia

It's their way to protest the fact that they don't like that we have a black president. It's really very simple.

OMG, you can't be serious. And some of us are calling gun-owners paranoid?

Also, I have to say that fat people look funny in camouflage fatigues--in a ridiculous non-threatening sort of way. They look like big green salads walking around with gun belts stretched around their wastes... Fat men should take a lesson from fat college girls and stick to dark blue/black solids that hide their girth.;)

That is funny but yet true.

The " they are gonna take your gun away" ploy is a well used ploy used on the masses. Put it up there with the death squads out to kill grandma.

No president is ever going to take away all our guns. If we the most powerful country in history can't find Bin Laden or every illegal alien how in hell do you think they could remove every gun?

Perhaps these promoters of this cause should support fighting obesity in our country. We are the 3rd fattest country in the world. Most Joe Fatty Arbuckles here in a real assault are so out of shape that the adrenalin rush would cause so much shaking they couldnt shoot straight. Well alone if they could pluck their fat butts out of the Lazy Boy.

Fight obesity and reduce it and we wouldn't need any kind of health care reform. But that would take work and basically Americans are lazy. Why go to the gym and work off the lard and maybe take a martial arts class when one can go buy a gun and feel protected? Kind of like some fat women who go out on spend a fortune on makeup for their face while the rest of their body looks like the Hindenburg.

Obama's attorney general Eric Holder stated that the Obama Administration will seek to reenact the Assault Weapons Ban. Please note that the ban does not deal with silenced weapons or machine guns or short-barreled shotguns, it deals with semiautomatic rifles/shotguns/handguns and firearm magazines that hold over 10 bullets.

Obama to Seek New Assault Weapons Ban - ABC News

If you Googled this story a few months later, you would see this:

Mexico: Why Is U.S. Backing Away From Gun Ban? - Newsweek.com

After fierce resistance from the gun lobby and its allies in Congress, Attorney General Eric Holder has dialed back talk about reimposing a federal assault weapons ban

But maybe your intent was to stir up people, rather than provide facts.

You buy ammo and hide guns when the country elects a black president. You're paranoid.

Why do we have to wait till a place guy is elected president? People should always be doing this.

When you have some actual facts that Obama is coming for your legal handguns and firearms, let us know.

until then, you're paranoid.

Only a fool would trust a politician.

I'll never understand this issue. If you have 40 rifles and handguns at home, why would you be worried about an assault weapons ban? How badly do you really needs a fully automatic machine gun? What are you gonna hunt with it? Must be some big ****ing deer!

I'll never understand how some people who run their mouth in support of the assault weapons ban don't actually know what it banned. Maybe before you get on the soap box of yours and sticking your nose into other people's business claiming that people don't need a fully automatic machine gun, you should see what the assault rifle ban was all about

There is so much to correct in this I don't even no where to start. First off, we have the second amendment, it isn't about need or hunting. Secondly, machine guns are not assault rifles which are not the arms that are covered in the "assault weapons" ban. Third, there is no such thing as an "assault weapon" it is legalese. Fourth, machine guns and rifles fire the same calibre ammunition, the difference is simple rate of fire. Fifth, you aren't an American so it isn't your business how, when, or where we exercise our rights. And finally, no one gives a **** how many guns anyone else thinks we "should" be "allowed" to own, that is no one's ****ing business.

I never claimed to know **** my friend. You are quite right.

So. Indeed I lacked the nessecary education on the ban.

So anyway, to continue my ignorance. Regardless of the ban and whatever it entails. Why are people so concerned about guns when they have 40 at home? and when Obama gets elected run out and buy 60 more? that makes little to no sense to me.

If that many people with guns hated the president, they would have shot him already. Now drop the race card bull****. It makes you sound like an idiot.

So what is the proper number of guns a person should own?

By making your snide remarks you sure acted like you are an expert on the subject.

So. Indeed I lacked the nessecary education on the ban.
That's the one thing you got right.

None of your business either way, so drop the point.

The one guy has 40, what about the guy who has none? What about the child who will grow up wanting guns? What about our rights and our liberties? Do any of those count or is your insanely idiotic hyperbole the only option we have?

Whats hyperbole? It was a crappy example I agree but did you honestly think I was implying that someone actually owns 100 guns because Obama is president.

Man it must be terrible to live in a country where you gotta stock up on guns and ammo to feel safe. I'll stick to my gun free existence in Canada (yes I know you can own one privately, but you dont see guns except on cops here)

Interesting that you would leave out the statement in the article that said that Bush did the same thing. So let's not pretend this isn't about race.

Pardon the gun enthusiasts for taking Barack Obama seriously. Stupid them, they heard his AG say his Administration wanted to enact more gun control, so they thought he meant what he said. The morons, taking a politician at his word.

Also, I've got a news flash--George W. Bush isn't President anymore. If I recall correctly, Bush doesn't hold any political office anymore, so it's hardly relevant.

Let's also 'not pretend' that Barack Obama being black didn't earn him the Presidency. He had almost no experience before becoming President. No other candidate with so little experience would have been taken seriously.

I do believe the Secretary of State Hillary Clinton summarized my point nicely: "Sen. McCain will bring a lifetime of experience to the campaign; I will bring a lifetime of experience; and Sen. Obama will bring a speech that he gave in 2002."

1.
obvious and intentional exaggeration.
2.
an extravagant statement or figure of speech not intended to be taken literally, as “to wait an eternity.”

The "What about the guy who has 40 guns..." blah blah crap was hyperbole. It's an exaggerated statement which glosses over the vast majority of the contention. You may not have wanted people to recognize it as hyperbole, but it is what it is. The guy with 40 guns, it's none of your business how many more he buys or for what reason he buys them. Until he infringes upon the rights of someone else, he's free to do as he likes.

Meh, I prefer to be free and to have the rights and liberties of the individual recognized. I think it's fine that I can live in a country where someone may be paranoid and can stockpile guns if they so choose. Just shows how open everything is.

That really depends on where you live. New Orleans, Detroit, Gary, Oakland... yes, you would do well to own a handgun there. But there are just as many very safe cities as well.

Fair game I suppose. :)

The funniest part is they were able to carry their guns onto federal parkland because of a new law passed by the Democratic Congress and signed by Obama.

FAIL

Congress lifted the gun ban last spring, after years of efforts by a bipartisan coalition that said differences in state and federal firearms laws made it difficult for gun owners to travel between state and federal lands.

The Bush administration had lifted the ban on concealed weapons in its final months, after pressure from gun rights groups, including the National Rifle Association. But a federal judge blocked the move last year. The Obama administration declined to appeal the ruling, and Congress passed the law. President Obama signed the measure without comment as part of a credit card reform package.

Like I said.

You infered a pro gun stance by the left. That was dishonest. I corrected you. :pimpdaddy:

I inferred nothing of the sort. You imagined it, because you're desperate. Same reason you follow me around and insert yourself into conversations you don't understand.

I'm following "new posts" don't flatter yourself.
"I don't have any evidence that Obama wants to take my guns BUT HE WANTS TO!"
That's about it just like "I don't know of anything socilaist he has done but I know that he is one"

Well lets see what has happened over the last 50 or so years

In 1934 FDR thought placing an onerous tax on machine guns would get rid of the prohibition era gangs. He used the commerce clause to accomplish this unconstitutional bit of nonsense

in 1968 we had the GCA of 68. It banned mail order guns, it prevented me, someone who lives 15 minutes from KY from buying a handgun there, and it set forth recordkeeping of gun purchases. You also had to show IDs to get ammo though that was rescinded later on.

In 1986, in a violation of the senate rules etc Dem gun hater Congressman Hughes tried to derail the McClure Voker FOPA by attaching a ban on the ownership of any automatic weapon made after may 19, 1986 even though there had never been a case since the 1934 act of a machine gun legally owned being used in a crime save for a dayton cop killing someone with an uzi

In 1993 the dems with clinton passed the brady bill. Though part of it was stricken (mandates on the states) it forced waiting periods on people thus engaging in prior restraint

Then came the idiotic Clinton gun ban that banned the sale of scary looking guns and magazines that carried more than 10 rounds

Other proposals dems have floated included a punitive "arsenal tax" on anyone owning more than a thousand rounds (two weeks of practice for a serious shooter) or 20 guns, bans on all semi autos, bans on all handguns, bans on certain calibers , etc.

Yeah gun owners are paranoid--the dems never have any desire to infringe on our rights

Actually I believe that the CALIFORNIA law was more of a "assault weapons" look alike ban then the Clinton ban.

Ok so the activity in gun control or tightening up was 17 years ago so you have not explained why all of a sudden we have a fear of 2nd amendment going away. So this ties into Obama how ?
