Obama: gay partners should have hospital access

It's the right thing to do. Enough said about that. People visiting loved ones in hospitals don't care what you think about the politics of it, and shouldn't.

Not at all. If everyone says that this doesn't happen, and it shouldn't happen, this makes sure of that. Folks who disagree with this are just looking for something to bitch about.

No, they are stating that a state recognize right or privilege given to one group cannot be denied to another group simply because a majority believes it should be.

While I do not agree with DOMA or Obama's position I do not see them actively pursuing restricting rights of homosexuals via the law like the right wing has done.

DOMA was promoted and pursued by the right wing not Bill Clinton.

You stated that civil rights does not apply to sexual orientation. That is a bigoted statement. Because civil rights apply to everyone.

Is it a pre-judgement to say that New England is by and large more socially liberal than the South is?

Don't you get it? Conservatives want everyone to have equal rights, they just want the people they don't like to have to get an attorney involved every time they want to exercise those rights.

Yes, and when we simply remove that hoop, instead of celebrating because they (allegedly) support equal rights, they find reasons to bitch and moan about it.

NP, I've heard liberals say pretty nasty things about conservatives, and conservatives say pretty nasty things about liberals. But it hasn't happened on this thread... yet. So there's no reason to make the accusation.

I have a POA for many different things.........It takes only a few minutes to get it notarized.........you don't even have to see a lawyer..........

So what's the problem? Do you oppose visitation rights for gays? If not, what more is there to say about this?

Remember. Obama mandated it. Doesn't matter whether it is good or bad, the "haters" will attack it no matter what. It speaks to the inability to look at things objectively, for some.
