Again, I think he was an asshole for blaming the Marines before a verdict was given, but a traitor? Absolutely not. I also disagree with naming a ship after him, I just think it is in poor taste given the controversy around him for that.

How about when they were acquited? He refused to apologize to any of tbem. Some of these brave marines were financly damaged by rotting murtha's slanderous mouth.

In Murtha's mind, they were guilty. Kinda like the fact O.J. was found not guilty and noone apologized to him. I'm not saying they the marines are guilty, but Murtha believed they were guilty.

Again, that makes him an asshole at worst, but not a traitor in any sense.

We don't know whether or not he had signs or early senility or not but at least he was a Veteran hawk and not that despised breed of flying vermin Chicken Hawk like Chenney. I also recall that Murtha was still a Hawk on Afghanistan even after he reached the late conclusion that Iraq was a mistake.

Yet that does not change the fact that he should have stayed quite no matter what he heard from his sources or briefings.

Same could be said of you libs that call tea partiers thugs, terrorists, mobs, Nazis‘, nut suckers, etc.

But the discussion here is a Congress critter calling our soldiers murderers the day the news came out without one thought as to whether they might be innocent before proven guilty.

It's still an issue of free speech as far as I am concerned. There is no law against doing stoopid things or we would all land up in jail at one time or another.
