Huckabee likens gay marriage to incest, drugs, and polygamy

Its just how people on the left can take 2 situations like Hillary and Palin and defend one and criticize the other.....You say Hillary quit to run for president........I say that Palin quit to become one of the leaders of the tea party and it would be hard for her to do that as Governor......

Its amazing how people on the left hate this woman because she is a conservative.........Its actually very sad........

What does Clinton being a male slut have to do with me disliking Palin because she dishonored every person who voted for her when she resigned to make money? I can dislike Palin while still believing Clinton was an ass.

People shouldn't be able to say these things publicly and expect to get away with it. Seriously, comparing gay marriage with incest and drugs? :bs

I hear Venezuala is a pretty good place to go where the government will help control what you can say publicly. You should try there.

Of course...an ordained minister like Mike Huckabee should not honestly respond to questions. He should simply accept that since this movement towards tolerence and acceptance we have seen and continue to see increases in pregancy and infection rates at all levels...teen pregnancies, doubling of syphilis infections, doubling of HIV/AIDS in teen boys, doubling of ghonorea rates, etc etc etc and that those increases are actually a GOOD thing.

Go back to the point made earlier...Huckabee (who I do NOT support as a candidate) honestly stated WHY he is opposed to gay marriage. Obama opposes gay marriage. Clinton opposed gay marriage. For the same reasons? Or for political expediancy?

Shame on Huckabee. Hurrah for Obama and Clinton and all the democrats that blindly oppose gay marriage.

Ahaha.
Never meant government control though, I should have specified. It is us who should not support this man for candidate, and then we don't have to hear him babble his homophobic comments.

Huckabee has attempted to maintain an image of a man who, while being opposed to gay marriage, is not a homophobe
Phobia:
-an anxiety disorder characterized by extreme and irrational fear of simple things or social situations

Given that few, if any people have a fear of homosexuals, estreme or otherwise, this is probably the case.

however, given the recent statements by the former Republican Presidential candidate, this brings his opinion into question. If he is not a homophobe, why the attempt to demonize homosexuality in comparison with something as universally immoral as incest?
I question the premise of your argument -- how do these things necessitate that Huckabee has an extreme fear of homosexuals?

And... universally immoral? You -sure- you want to go down that road?
Given this and his other declarations, it is clear that our good Governor Huckabee has neglected to read the vast majority of unbiased, scientific studies which conclude that homosexuality is psychologically sound
Homosexuality is psychologically sound? What is that supposed to mean?
Who has claimed that it is unsound - and what would it mean if it were?

making him not only ignorant of the facts, but perhaps a little more homophobic than he would like to admit.
This is just more of the typical, unsupportable petty sniping at people who, for whatever reason of their choosing, are not accepting of homoseuality.

Those that -are- accepting of homosexuality and cannot accept the idea that some people may have a view that differs feel the need to try to belitte their opposition by simply, and unsupportably, declaring that the oppositon is afraid.

Seems to me that if you have a solid foundation for your position, you dont need to resort to such sophistry.

Thank God we have a First Amendment to stop you from restricting free speech because you personally don't like it.........

There are libel and slander laws though;)

Thats not soft on crime, thats just making a huge **** up. Its not like the thug didnt go to jail.

To a Republican, it's soft on crime. If Huckabee were a Democrat, they'd be all over that like white on rice. (Doesn't apply to brown rice).

Which is to bad really. Much healthier.

That's right, and we are a Christian nation too someone said, so we have the right to cast stones at those people different than ourselves............

If it was good enough for our founding fathers who considered native Americans wild animals and slaves as only partially human, than its good enough for us!

Ahaha.

Or MAYBE he isnt "homophobic" (a dumbass word...if I disagree with liars am I liaphobic? I hate assholes that pull that card). MAYBE he simply believes that while being able to respect individuals and their individual decisions to live a homosexual lifestyle, he believes homosexuality is wrong and not deserving of redefining the marital laws and statutes. Maybe (in 1992 when his comments were made and we were still learning a great deal about HIV/AIDS) he actually was concerned by the fact that 5% of the population accounted for 90% of the HIV/AIDS cases in America. Of course...now that tolerance and a lack of proactive action regarding safe sex practices has created an environment where more and more people across the spectrum are dying from the AIDS disease then his concerns were OBVIOUSLY unfounded...

Shame on him for answering questions honestly. I notice no one wants to touch Obamas reasons or Clintons reasons for why THEY oppose gay marriage...of course...they havent GIVEN one...so lets assume they are not driven by faith based decisions on homosexuality-because that would be terrible. Instead...lets just accept that Obama and Clinton for no good reason hate gays and dont wnat them to have marital rights.

If you compare gay marriage with incest and drugs, you obviously don't have a mere disagreement with it, do you? But the right word to describe him isn't the point here.
I personally do not think he is wrong by defending the actual marital laws, or being concerned by our health. I just want to believe there is some common sense left in us so we do not support a man with no respect at all to an individual that chose to lead a different life.

Its really amazing how you lefties cite the first amendment on the issues unless it disagrees with your position.........

Then what's the point of calling him homophobic?
Can you show that he actually fears homosexuals, or do you just want to insult him, thinking that ad homs equate to a reasoned argument?

I just want to believe there is some common sense left in us so we do not support a man with no respect at all to an individual that chose to lead a different life.
Wait... homosexuality -is- a choice now? When did THAT change?

MAYBE he simply believes that while being able to respect individuals and their individual decisions to live a homosexual lifestyle, he believes homosexuality is wrong and not deserving of redefining the marital laws and statutes.

Nobody chooses to be gay, that's absurd. And suppose they did - why is that not a reason to change the laws? Laws are there for the people.

Maybe (in 1992 when his comments were made and we were still learning a great deal about HIV/AIDS) he actually was concerned by the fact that 5% of the population accounted for 90% of the HIV/AIDS cases in America.

And so we should bash people for having a high rate of a disease? Oh, and there are plenty of STDs going around among heteros.

Of course...now that tolerance and a lack of proactive action regarding safe sex practices has created an environment where more and more people across the spectrum are dying from the AIDS disease then his concerns were OBVIOUSLY unfounded...

What does that have to do with homosexuality though?

Obama certainly has. He's just personally opposed to it on religious grounds.

Okay, okay, but you're right - you can't just call anyone who opposes anything gays want "homophobic." Not automatically.

Its really amazing how you lefties cite the first amendment on the issues unless it disagrees with your position.........

WTF did anyone say about free speech or lack thereof?

Sure you do...if you compare the three you are saying you think they are WRONG. Mike Huckabee is a minister...he probably goes along with that whole biblical 'sin' thing. I know...I know...shocking.

It isnt like he nis advocating they NOT be allowed to practice their lifestyle choice. He just believes it is wrong. and heres a news flash..>MOST people do.

Ive asked this question of liberals in numerous forums...how many people WANT their sons to come home and announce they are gay? I get the same lame-ass response every time..."I just want them to be happy" Well...thats not exactly the same ****ing thing, is it. If your son gets engaged or is about to have a baby a man walks into a bar and shouts "Line em up!!! My boy is getting married!" If a man (or woman) finds out their son is gay how many rush down to the bar and loud and proud proclaim "its a banner day, boys! I just found out my son sucks ****!" Answer? You KNOW the answer. Oh...they will say ALL the 'right' things and even MEAN them...I would too. I love you...I want for your happiness...you are always my son...I will love you unconditionally and yes, even your partner...but...right? Nope...sorry.

Many people ACCEPT others...their choices...as consenting adults...even though we disagree with their lifestyle and choices. There is no disrespect. Point of fact...I couldnt care less if you paid me to. But...if you then push this as a ballot issue on right or wrong, I, like Mike Huckabee, have no problem stating I believe it is wrong. Fine for them...but no plan to endorse change in marital and family definition for the action.

No one chooses to be sexually attracted to sheep...snakles...little boys. We EXPECT them to control their unexplainable sexual deviations. No one is SUGGESTING even a little bit that homosexuals should control what they do with a consenting partner. I couldnt give a **** to be blunt. Still doesnt make it right.

Throw out religion. Science...nature...basics of procreation...facts about percentages of gay HIV/AIDS victims...they ALL stand as a pretty solid indictment on the practice of homosexuality.

I would have to agree, but also: don't care if someone is gay.

Perfectly rational to disagree with a lifestyle and also not care that they live it, for this reason I see nothing wrong with what Huckabee said.

Though, ultimately, why make these comments; they serve to do nothing but hurt gay people, if he actually believed Jesus words he would be seeking a way to help bring them out of that lifestyle and not condemning them for it.

So if most people believe it's wrong, it's alright?
What I've been trying to say is not if he is right or wrong in what he believes, but how he expresses this. It's like the difference between saying: I don't like chocolate, and saying: Chocolate will cause you to have sex with your little sister. Is this stating you don't like it, or pointlessly insulting it?

All I want from Huckabee is to have a bit of respect to gay marriage. He obviously isn't showing it.

And he never will...He is a minister....He bases his opinions on the bible.....What part of that don't you understand?

WTF does that have to do with anything though?

Awful lot of people give lip service the whole right and wrong thing. And shame on you foer voting for a bigot like Obama who uses something like religous belief to determine whether or not he should accept gay marriage. Why...that makes him as bad as...Huckabee.

All I want from Huckabee is to have a bit of respect to gay marriage. He obviously isn't showing it.

He doesn't disrespect it, he disagrees with it. Obama disagrees with it, too. Personally, I think they're wrong, but what does it matter?

Marriage is not in the purview of the federal government anyway. I'd never base a vote on anyone running for federal office on the issue of gay marriage.
