Huckabee likens gay marriage to incest, drugs, and polygamy

Indeed she might. And then promptly quit because it got a little tough!

I doubt that....I love it how you liberal women hate a woman with family values.......

HIV is a highly infectious disease.........You may not know they quarantined people with TB in the forties and fifties...........

It is not highly infectious. Please tell me you know how you contract it. it is certainly less infectious than leprosy.

I doubt Jesus would make an exception based off of how infectious something is. My point stands. Huckabee is only Christian when it suits him.

What do you have to base this opinion on?

Based off the fact that he only uses Christianity to exclude.

Jesus could heal lepers.Everyone else can't.

And? Is that really all you picked up from the leper story was that he healed them? While it did show his healing power, it was also used to illustrate the importance of compassion. How compassionate do you think putting infants with HIV into quarantine is?

I am pretty sure Jesus could heal everyone who had HIV. So it is not the same thing.

You're right, it's worse. Leprosy was highly contagious back in the day. HIV is not even remotely highly contagious. Shunning people because of a disease that you almost have to go out of your way to catch is so un-Christian I can't believe you're defending it.

If she resigned the governership to take care of her family (which is not the story I heard, but whatever), why on earth should we elect her to Congress? Obviously she can't juggle the two responsibilities.

That is impossible....Don't you know if you disagree with homosexuality the left says you a homophobe or a bigot............

HYPOCRITE!!!!!!!!

We do? So you can show me all those people I have called a homophobe or bigot?

Based off the fact that he only uses Christianity to exclude.

Everyone excludes. That does not make him a bad Christian. Seeing how you are not a Christian or a Christian in name only you have no basis to judge whether or not someone is a good Christian.

I was pointing out that it is completely dishonest to use the "Jesus walked with lepers" line.I am pretty sure anyone could walk around people with a dangerous infectious disease if they are they son of God and can heal people. And I am pretty sure those that had leprosy did not want to have leprosy, while most gays on the other would not want to change to heterosexuals.

How compassionate do you think putting infants with HIV into quarantine is?

Depends on what and where that quarantine is.

Aids/HIV is not a cold and Aids/HIV is a dangerous life altering disease. Especially if you can not get your hands on treatment.

This is a ridiculous conversation. You honestly think Jesus would support putting thousands of people with a disease you have to actively do something to catch in a quarantine for the rest of their lives?

Well, he was my favorite because of his support of the FairTax. Since his chances are now shot, I'll need to find a new guy to stand behind.

No, he wouldn't. There is something very unchristian abut the notion.

Indeed. When God hates the same people you hate, rest assured you have created him in your own image.

Well said. We can agree on something. :applaud

Are there ANY politicians who have fiscal sense but aren't otherwise lunatics?

My pickings are slim for those I support.

Duncan Hunter from California had some pretty good fiscal sense and wasn't a total right-wing Bible-thumping loon when he was running a couple years ago. Of course, I think that he couldn't get his name out because Rush Limbaugh's "Operation Chaos" backfired - and tons of Democrats crossed-over in primaries that normally never did before.

For all the spinelessness that is going on in the GOP, I'm just waiting for a blue-dog to rise among the ranks and bring some sanity to the big-tent party. I'll vote for a Democrat if they really impress me.

You're waiting to be impressed by the major parties?

Good luck with that.

Maybe impress is a wrong word.

How about "content". Or at least "not totally pissed".

I really think Huckabee is like a political manipulator. I've never supported the man and I think he really has no real values or principals. He is a mirror of what his audience wants to see and a parrot repeating what they say and want to hear back. I really have a hard time taking anything he says seriously.

I think there will come a day when most of the country views Huckabee as we currently view the white supremacist politicians of the 60s.

Who cares. I dont agree with a lot of what he said but he will NEVER EVER be the nominee for the GOP.

He's soft on crime and illegal immigration.

His gay adoption line was particularly bad.

But we have no access to his unabridged words. Only the thoughts from someone summarizing them.

Exactly. I just finished a google search for the actual words, which don't seem to be available anywhere. There are lot of comments about what he said, but not his actual words. Why not publish the actual interview and let us make up our own minds?

This sort of thing happens all the time with any high profile pol. "He/she said that" followed by the author's version of what was said, but never the actual words.

Here is what Huckabee has to say about what they're saying about what he said:

Statement from Mike Huckabee Regarding The Perspective Article From Friday April 9
by Web Team
Governor Mike Huckabee: "The young college student hopefully will find a career other than journalism. I would ask that he release the unedited tape of our conversation. I believe that what people do as individuals in their private lives is their business, but I do not believe we should change the traditional definition of marriage. Not only did he attempt to sensationalize my well known and hardly unusual views of same-sex marriage, he also inaccurately reported my views on Michael Steele as GOP chairman - I offered my support and didn't "Rip into Steele" as his article asserted. I had a candid and frank conversation with the group about health care, education, the economy and national security while the young journalism student, instead, chose to focus on the issue of same-sex marriage and grossly distort my views."

Exactly. I just finished a google search for the actual words

[ame=http://tinypic.com/player.php?v=6scg07&s=5]Huckabee, TCNJ, The College of New Jersey, The Perspective, Pictures, Huckabee, TCNJ, The College of New Jersey, The Perspective, Images, Huckabee, TCNJ, The College of New Jersey, The Perspective, Photos, Huckabee, TCNJ, The College of New Jersey, T[/ame]

There's the full audio of the interview, ironically I had just stumbled across the link to that, and saw this post.

I did not expect it to embed here, just click on the title bar and it will take you to it.

I did one of those "check which candidate you match up with politically" questionaires online early on in last election's primaries, and Duncan Hunter ranked top for me.

I disagree. Huckabee is a Bible believing Christian. What you probably don't realize is that there is a lot of very hardcore, and frankly hateful stuff in the Bible. Especially in the Old Testament. Huckabee is not a cafeteria Christian. He takes the whole thing as the literal word of God.
