Democrat wins Fla. special house election

Seems like that talk about a wave of anti-democrat backlash is a little more hype than substance:

Democrat wins Fla. US House special election - Yahoo! News

Florida Democratic state Sen. Ted Deutch handily won Tuesday's special election to replace retiring Democratic U.S. Rep. Robert Wexler after his underdog GOP opponent attempted to make the contest a referendum on the massive health care bill.

"We've heard for months that tonight ... is a referendum on health care, it's a referendum on the (Obama) administration, it's a referendum on what direction this country is going," Deutch told supporters
Its been several weeks since the Vegas shooting. Its it still "Too Early" or can we start having the conversation about finally doing something about these mass shootings???

Wow. A democrat won a seat in a democrat district.

    Will wonders ever cease?

LOL Its Broward county no less as well.

Thats like a democrat winning in San Fransisco.

Did you even bother to look at the history of the district before declaring this some sort of special win DD?

A Democrat winning in a district where democrats outnumber two-to-one is not surprising. DD - do you actually do any research or read the article before you post? If you had, you would notice that this is not news. You could put Mickey Mouse's name with a (D) next to his name in that district and he would win. Talk about much ado about less than nothing...

Tex makes a valid point DD. Some districts are simply going to go democrat, some republican. It's not a good time to go get overconfident about November. Let's let republicans do that, while we do everything we can to win. Coakley is a good example of what happens when you get overconfident. I don't think things are going to be as bad for us in November as some try and suggest, but I think we have to work our asses off to minimize the amount of damage done, and we are going to lose seats.

I think I understand why he posted this. He's probably tired of reading about how Republicans hear think that they will take control of both hosues in Congress and he wanted to jump at the chance to prove you guys wrong.

While I doubt republicans will win either house or senate, this does not prove that. Further, it is possible we loose both house and senate, and so we need to spend as much effort as we can to not do so.

This does absolutely nothing to show any possible trend for November. I don't know how it will go, but no national trend can be devined from a race won by a Democrat by almost a 2:1 margin in a district that is more than 2:1 Democrat.

Sorry....but if the GOP wants to make any impact in the election they are going to have to do more than win the seats they already hold

And they will. But this isn't a 50/50 seat. Its a democrat stronghold seat.

    wexler's seat!

    LOL!

that's like trying to make something out of a republican winning IN UTAH!

i mean, a dem taking WEXLER'S SEAT (LOL!) isn't quite the same thing as a republican gub candidate (tom corbett) leading in PENNSYLVANIA by THIRTY

it's not as if EVERY candidate for governor of MICHIGAN has a DOUBLE DIGIT lead over andy dillon

it's not as if what's going on in wisconisin is going on in wisconsin

dems holding WEXLER'S SEAT isn't quite the same as little red wannabe nobodies leading the SENATE MAJORITY LEADER in the SILVER STATE by a DOZEN

    DEMS WIN IN BROWARD---a BOMBSHELL

    LOL!

    why, congrats!
