    Priest calls for pope's resignation

Is this a brave priest who is putting his "career" on the line? Or is this a foolish man ? Will this priest find himself sent to Antartica to organize penguins for a nunery as his punishment ?

"East Longmeadow, Massachusetts (CNN) -- The phones are ringing off the hook at the parish of St. Michael's Church, where the Rev. James Scahill called in a sermon last weekend for the pope to resign over the church's sexual abuse scandal."

and this slam bamm " "If he can't take the consequences of being truthful on this matter, his integrity should lead him, for the good of the church, to step down and to have the conclave of cardinals elect a pope with the understanding that the elected pope would be willing to take on this issue, not just in promise," Scahill said"

Bull**** story about a bull**** priest. He's finished. No one makes the pope resign except God.

    So God did this :
Resigned And Removed: Looking At Papal History : NPR
"Resigned And Removed: Looking At Papal History"
    by John O'Malley
"In the long history of the Roman Catholic Church there are two clear, uncontested instances of popes resigning but that's only the beginning of the story for popes who have been removed prematurely.Though papal lineage can be traced all the way back to St. Peter, the first pope, succession hasn't always been so cut and dried. From contested legitimacy to full schisms, the history of the pontiff walks, at times, a winding road."

    [html]Papal Resignations

The first pope to resign without question or qualification was Pietro del Morrone, known as Pope Celestine V. He was elected at the age of 85 on July 5, 1296, as the result of a deadlock in a conclave that had already lasted over two years. Until his election Pietro had lived the life of a hermit in central Italy. It was his reputation for holiness that caused the cardinals to turn to him, once it became clear that no cardinal in the conclave could win a majority of votes.

Unfortunately, the new pope had no experience in the complex world of the papacy and barely understood Latin. It soon became clear to everybody, including himself, that he could not carry on. He resigned on Dec. 13, 1296, only six months after his election. Although Dante in his Divine Comedy put him in hell for dereliction of duty, he was canonized in 1313.

The second case was Angelo Correr, known as Gregory XII, who resigned in 1415 under pressure from the Council of Constance, a conference of bishops gathered to settle problems in church practices. At this particular meeting the bishops faced The Western Schism. Papal elections were often contested during the Middle Ages, but they were usually settled in a short time. During this schism, complications worsened and resulted in three men claiming a place as pope.

Once the council met it decided that the only solution to the schism which had lasted 40 years at this point was to wipe the slate clean and begin all over again with a new pope. Although the council persuaded Gregory to resign, the other two claimants refused and were formally deposed. The council elected a new pope, Martin V, who was universally accepted.

New reports reveal Pope?s oversight role in sexual abuse of children | FSRN - Free Speech Radio News
Pope Benedict, who was head of the Vatican's office on sex abuse cases in the 1990s, did not act to investigate a priest who is believed to have molested 200 children between 1950-1974 at a school for the deaf in Wisconsin.
This one case alone makes the Pope an accessory to child molestation before and after the fact in every case that followed his first knowledge where he failed to act in the interest of the children.

Author, investigator and, documentary producer Jason Berry recently noted that a good portion of Catholic Priests are gay and that it is known within the Church at one level or the other and it seems to me it's a lot like don't ask don't tell and so nothing is ever done about it.

Priests, Ministers, Rabbis, and school teachers, who are know to homosexual should never be left alone with children for any reason because of the possibility of molestations.

Rev. James Scahill has taken a bold and brave position and is to be commended for it.

Celibacy is one of the reasons for these cases but it starts with a basic mental deficiency with the molester, and it can be very hard to spot unless a victim comes forth. However when a victim does speak up swift decisive and severe action needs to be taken.

Former Priest and KGO radio talk show host Berny Ward was accused of molesting children before he left the Priesthood and got married but was still later convicted of child pron so it doesn't seem to go away with time.

I am not YET ready to say that the Pope should resign but I will say that he as all of the BIG HATS obviiously knew that there was evil going on and all that was done was to play schuffle board with the pervert priests.

The Pope like all BIG HATS failed !!!!

If the Pope needs to fall on his sword then all BIG HATS down to to Bishop need to. But that would not be practical would it ?????
