Oklahoma Tea Party Plans To Form Armed Militia

OMG assault weapons !!! But arn't those dangerous ? So they spread mustard on thier weapons ? That will ruin the mechanism. The Swiss need to stick to what they know chocolate. Ok some yodelling on special occasions !!!

Assault rifles, not 'assault weapons'.

state controlled, but commanded by the President, according to the Constitution. Article 2 Section 2:
Only when called into federal service.
You very deliberately left that part out of your quote of Art 2:2.

Sounds rather idiotic but I kind of want to wait and see what it is. From the sounds of it I wonder if it'll end up being more like a National Guard type thing, simply localized to the state.

If that's the case, strangely enough, I'd rather like it. I know one of the issues with katrina and others was National Guard members being deployed. Having a force focused simply in the state that is able to give aid to emergency situations but is not bound to the federal government would assure that emergency response for the state could be possible.

The language in this seems rather inflamatory, especially since "militia" in recent times has been something that conjures images of backwoods rednecks stock piling guns and thinking they're Green Beret's. However that's hardly the only definition of militia and with this going officially through the state I'd be willing to hold off judgement until we can see more information that's not simply broad strokes and stereotyped words.
i'm sure they've chosen to use "militia" precisely to inflame. and the volunteer force will undoubtedly be white males and who feel the need to assert dominance. probably police force rejects, and from some of the experiences i've had with cops, they don't reject too many people.

however, i''l wait to say "i told you so". let them play army for awhile.

i hope they are arrested. this is going to far.
You want to arrest a state legislature for creating a state militia?
Who would arrest them? On what grounds?

Or, you want to arrest a group for lobbying a state legislature to do the same?
Who would arrest them? On what grounds?

Or, did you just not read the story?
OR, do you just not understand how these things work?

Oklahoma and "well regulated" probably shouldn't be used in the same sentence.

Oh and lets not confuse my retorts to the "teabagee" group, and others of that nature, as a flippant attitude to all left wingers, That would be a mistake, as my responses to them have been a purposeful exercise that has cut the use of that vulgar term from 20+ a day, to none today.... Thank me very much. :pimpdaddy:
Sorry to side track the thread but you started it with that nonsense.

The use or not, of the term "teabagger/bagger" seems directly proportional to the subject matter and not to your "anti-vulgar" campaign hypocrisy. Unless you'd like to prove causation. :2wave:

there was a method to my madness. I hope you can see that.
Nope, just madness. :rofl

You may now return to the ridiculous topic.

Let me make sure I understand this correctly.

The National Guard of the United States is a reserve military force composed of state National Guard militia members or units under federally recognized active or inactive armed force service for the United States.[1][2] The National Guard of the United States is a joint reserve component of the United States Army and the United States Air Force and maintains two subcomponents: the Army National Guard of the United States for the Army[1] and the Air Force's Air National Guard of the United States.[1]

Established under Title 10 and Title 32 of the U.S. Code, state National Guard serves as part of the first-line defense for the United States.[3] The state National Guard is divided up into units stationed in each of the 50 states and U.S. territories and operates under their respective state governor or territorial adjutant general.[4] The National Guard may be called up for active duty by state governors or territorial adjutant general to help respond to domestic emergencies and disasters, such as those caused by hurricanes, floods, and earthquakes.[4]
So because the federal government decided to use the States National Guard to fight in a foreign war, Oklahoma wants to create, basically, a second National Guard for their state? Another government bureaucracy, yeah, that sounds about right for small government rightwingers. :doh

The National Guard is a federal force, created by federal law, funded by federal monies, and equipped by the US Army, that the states get to use for certain things - it is an Army reserve organization that can be commanded by the governor, and taken away for service as the federal government sees fit.

It is legally and conceptually seperate from the actual militias of the states, those created by state laws, and equpped and trained by the states.

Your fail is laughable. I use the "teabagee" response directly to people like you and your vulgar mouths....

What are you going to do about it? Cry and call me a racist? :lamo

You forgot to play the race card, brother! :gunsmilie:

It's not about sides, zyph. But let's ask Deuce to Clarify. Perhaps we can move foward there. He made some claims, and when I thought I got it wrong, I immediatly asked him about it. Did you miss that?

Shorty, you really think The Greatness that is the Good Reverend, could not turn around a hot little number like you calling me a Teabagger? :ssst: :pimpdaddy:

Also, Since I started my campaign, we went from about 10 different people using teabagger ad nauseum every day multiple times (20 a day), to now one or two mouth foaming morons (not you shorty) who cling desparatly to that term, like eager little bitches..... (again, not you shorteh)... :2razz::mrgreen:

better not be me.....if it's your own private campaign, have at it. i know you big hunky men like to stir the pot. ;-)

you say it's worked?

No, I think he's trying to indicate that these self-formed militias ultimately can't "resist" the federal government in any form legally. .

I think anyone that thought this would have absolutely zero understanding of the founding fathers intent when the constitution was written and their reason/rationale behind the establishment of the Bill of Rights. I dont think the intent is to protect criminal enterprise...but then...that truly was a stupid place to take the argument (or...maybe we should legalize gay marriage, because Duece wants the opportunity to **** or be teabagged by small boys. I mean...that IS their rationale for legalizing gay marriage...right? I know...its as moronic as throwing protecting a cocaine stash into THIS argument). The intent of formation of a militia has more to do with ensuring the federal government does not steamroll the American people in an unconstitutional manner...stealing money, property, resources, etc.

Our founding fathers werent trying to protect some cash crop or criminal enterprise when they formed militias...they took a stand against an oppressive government.

You bet your sweet aspercreme it did. Seems, these folks, don't like it when its turned around on them.

This is a good thing for civil posters. not good for the trolls. ;)

Things like making fun of someone who doesn't call you a racist just brings that issue out, and lowers the civility you are trying to encourage in other people. If you're going to be a concern troll, troll yourself first.

I think people should just stop paying taxes.

That's a valid argument, but you have to be prepared for the consequences of breaking the law.

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

Hardly call them well regulated or necessary to security of a free State(they in fact incite violence?) :2wave:

Add to that the fact that in the very first paragraph of the story it indicates the intent to have this organization sanctioned by the Oklahoma legislature and that it has backing by state congressmen...well...it becomes very scary. To some people.

Just like the formation of a private army by say...a president...would be scary to others...

Or the IRS purchasing 15,000 sawed off shotguns. Curious.

I would recommend against using the word 'teabagee'. I prefer simply calling them 'Teacup'.

State militias incite violence?
Where/when?
