So your saying after Loving V Virginia all those states just changed their mind.........can you give me a link on those states.........I was voting during those days and don't remember that and most people I know had to problem with the races being integrated...Nothing like there is against gay marriage........

I heard there are going to be more states with constitutional amendments on the ballot in Nov.....stay tuned..........
First of all, there were 16 states that had laws and/or statutes against interracial marriages (I will admit that I had read another article wrong when it said 30 states had laws, these were prior to the 1960s). And no, those states, nor their citizens, simply "changed their minds". They were forced to abide by the decision of the Supreme Court. The last state to remove the anti-miscegenation laws from the books was Alabama, in 2000. Someone else posted much earlier in this thread the actual support for interracial marriages during the past.

Why the Ugly Rhetoric Against Gay Marriage Is Familiar to this Historian of Miscegenation

Also, Obama is not "my boy". I voted for McCain. But President Obama does support repealing DOMA. The Respect for Marriage Act is at least a step forward. And Pres. Obama does support civil unions for same-sex couples. Another step closer.

This is from last year. Looks like most people support at least equal treatment of same sex couples, if not full marriage recognition all together.

Sorry....that's the cowards way out. Separate but equal is never equal.

We are winning this war...if not tomorrow, then the day after that...but make no mistake Navy, don't fool yourself, justice and equality will prevail. Thi country has a history of being wrong...discrimination...mistreatment of minorities, but eventually, although we are slow, we come around to doing the right thing. This is no different than the battles for equality that have come before...and the bigots and abusers always lose.
Its been several weeks since the Vegas shooting. Its it still "Too Early" or can we start having the conversation about finally doing something about these mass shootings???

The ONLY reason that you "support" civil unions is because you are deathly afraid that gay marriage is coming your way and you are hoping that if you throw some crumbs out...people might take them and be happy.
Well guess what old man....it ain't gonna happen. We aren't going to settle for your leftovers.....

No...Navy...you have it all wrong. Us "lefties" understand that you can have a difference of opinion.

What makes you Intolerant is your arrogant belief that everyone should be required to live according to your "opinion".
Your right to your opinion ends when it imposes on the private lives of others.

I am perfectly willing to allow you to have your opinion and to live your life according to your beliefs and ideals.

Why are you right-wingers so unwilling to allow others the same respect?

First of all calm the f*ck down.

Second, I'm really not a left-winger, I have a lot of problems with the liberal ideology.

I'm not calling conservatives intolerant, in fact I'm not calling anyone intolerant. The only person I'm calling out is YOU individually.
