No, Navy...its not that at all. Its just that I cannot be the source of your education on Constitutional law and how the Supreme Court works. You come up with these questions and we try to explain them to you, but you either don't listen or you refuse to hear it. You think that people are attacking you....but its really more of frustration of trying to talk to someone that doesn't want to learn how things work....

So far, the DOJ keeps dismissing most of the challenges to DOMA without allowing them to get near the SCOTUS.

However, there is a bill in the House right now, the Respect for Marriage Act, that is meant to repeal DOMA. It is supported by former President Clinton.

HRC | Respect for Marriage Act
Text of H.R.3567 as Introduced in House: Respect for Marriage Act of 2009 - U.S. Congress - OpenCongress

If this doesn't make it, then those of us who support gay marriage will just have to keep trying. This particular battle can keep going for as long as it takes, but once federal recognition is achieved, it would be quite hard for it to be taken away. And after that, if it hasn't been done by then already or isn't done at the same time, it shouldn't take too long for the SCOTUS to ensure the full faith and credit clause applies to same-sex marriage.

Gay marriage should NOT be on any ballot. It was tried, and it failed. This is an issue that should be decided in the courts. Simple as that....

As far as the gay issue goes, isn't it odd that Jesus never had an opinion on it? Maybe he doesn't care?
Read Matt. chapter 25, that is the essence of christianity according to Jesus.
    All else is fluff.....or worse....
Agreed. There are some really fascinating theories of Christian history out there. Some historians say the first followers of Jesus under James and Peter didn't believe Jesus was the son of God at all and that Paul created the Christian religion by himself. Really makes you wonder about what is a bedrock for so many people's faith.

Some people don't want children, especially older people who have already raised their children. Heterosexual couples in these situations can still get married.

And homosexual couples can adopt children too, not to mention, some have children already from previous relationships. Yet homosexual couples are not allowed to get married in many states, nor are their marriages, when legal, recognized by the federal government.

I disagree. If it is only decided in the courts then it will look like it was imposed on the people. That is what social conservatives want.
