is further proof that the economy under Obama is on its way to recovery.

General Motors Co., steadily returning to health after its near-collapse in 2009, said Wednesday it plans to pay off its government loans by June — five years ahead of schedule — and could report a profit as early as this year.

GM said it lost $3.4 billion in the fourth quarter of 2009 on revenues of $32.3 billion. But things are on the upswing. Sales and production have increased and GM has gained U.S. market share since the start of the year. The automaker will try to maintain that momentum while facing a stiff challenge from a revitalized Ford Motor Co.

Yeah, losing three and a half billion in a quarter sure is "further proof" to me.

At least wipe the damn kool-aid stain off your chin before you post. And the way you love Obama, it may not be the only liquid on your chin.

In your "Rush" to play "gotcha" games....you left out pertinent facts.

But things are on the upswing. Sales and production have increased and GM has gained U.S. market share since the start of the year.

The crux of the article is that their sales and production are increasing. Ford is seeing even bigger increases in sales and have increased production.
The signs are clearly indicating a growing economy, much to the chagrine of those hoping that the economy continues to struggle.

I could give a good hard damn about "sales" and "production". Corporations don't exist for sales or production. They exist for profit, and there is none...unless you count negative. You're just wishing upon a star and taking baseless predictions and interpreting them as fact to uphold your views.

Me? I need proof, not posturing. I'll necro the thread in July when the 2nd quarter income statements hit the public. Then you can give me another round of "it's coming, guys...look out!".

Sales upticks are generally the leading indicator of profitability, so it does matter. Moreover, if you read the link, you would realize that GM did have an operating profit in the 4th quarter of $1B. The loss was largely from one time charges. The government will likely make money on the GM deal, just as it is on its bailout of the banks (and its previous bailouts of the RTC and Chrysler in the late '70s).

Oh man there goes that "Socialist thing" right out the window!!! What a bummer man. I am jealous of the ChiComs they bought Volvo !!! The ChiComs will make a fleet of red Moaistmobiles and we will not own any piece of the Camaro !!! boo hoo !!! we will have to buy stock in GM to have a share - OMG I share ohhhhh that is so Socialistic.

Well let's see !!! we need production to have product to sell- When you sell product you have sales. When you have sales you may cover production costs. If you exceed production cost and slaes costs yoou may have a profit.

But you're right who needs sales and production anyway we can just hug our excell spreadsheets !!! oh they are in the red - ooops lol

Gotta love how the right continually paints themselves into corners, now they try to convince us that GM should not remain in business. What kind of pickup did you say you drive?

I guess that they would rather drive a ChiCom-Mobile after they drive GM and maybe Ford out of business next.

I told fat boy slim that my 2012 vote depends on whether or not he gives up the Government holding on GM.
