DA: sex ed could get teachers arrested

Personally I'm willing to oppose all forms of sex-ed until gun safety is included.

If safety is our concern, then there's no reason to leave guns out.

That wasn't a "shot". I just repeated your own argument back to you. Just in less flowery terms.

You're getting soft on me. It's no fun if you don't fight back. :poke

Yes dear :2razz:

One of the major causes of teen pregnancy is that teenagers are routinely lied to by adults about sex.

Frank open discussions about it could help solve some problems.

This whole idea of jailing teachers this is not a good idea.

Isn't it rather childish to oppose one kind of education because you can't get another totally unrelated kind?

By all means teach gun safety when the society you want is going to be flooded by firearms anyway.

You can have your guns in sex ed if the government pays for my gay cruise ship adventures to the Caribbean.

I can play that game too. :2wave:

Yes!

I once talked to a dad who said he had told his teen daughter that kissing gets you pregnant. He figured that would keep her from getting anywhere close to having sex.

I explained to him that three things would happen:

1. She'd easily find out that kissing didn't get you pregnant.
2. She wouldn't know what really gets you pregnant, except what she hears from her peers, which probably won't be very accurate.
3. She knows she can't trust her dad to tell her.

I have a friend who has a cousin who asked him if she could get pregnant through oral sex.

Politics is nothing if not childish.

Memo to these people: Teenagers are going to have sex regardless of whether they have sex ed or not. Might as well teach them how to be safe.

And, then, cry about how the teen pregnancy rate skyrockets.

And, then, cry about how the teen pregnancy rate skyrockets.

But it doesn't.

The studies prove that teaching sex ed with birth control LOWERS teen preganacy, and teaching nothing, or just abstinence, does not.

Deal with it.

Actually, it does. Deal with that.

Who cries? The parents? The people that didn't want to teach sex ed?

The people who support teaching sex ed are usually the ones raising the hoop-la. Their answer? More sex ed.

Because some people believe that the only way to teach it is abstinence. It doesn't work. That maybe the way parents want their kids to do, but it isn't realistic. What needs to be done is during the sex ed classes is that teens should try and follow abstinence, but if you feel you are ready here are safe ways to have sex.

And I got the abstinence only talk in schools and I had many friends have close pregnancy scares because they didn't know different.

Sex Ed Does Delay Teen Sex: CDC

Come on apdst. You know have two studies. Time for you to produce something, ANYTHING. And don't give us any UK studies. They are not relevant to the US.

Might help. I hope that's not the best you can do.

You were the one who said it wouldn't and then didn't put up any source when questioned. So I will wait until you put up an article. Until then my best is a hell of a lot better than your best.

So far, we have one link that says it, "might" help and another from the CDC. IOW, no one can prove that sex-ed reduces teen preggers.

I hope that's not the best you can do.

Show us a school, where comprehensive sex-ed is taught, where the teen pregger rate went down. Thanks in advance.

Show me a school were it wasn't.

Actually because I don't want to play that game. I don't have a single school, but I do have.

Teens who received comprehensive sex education were 60 percent less likely to report becoming pregnant or impregnating someone than those who received no sex education.
