Very likely or at least one of the numerous earthquakes that daily hit California.

Magnitude 6.9 Earthquake Reported in Baja California

The USGS quake up graded to 7.2 and the number of other quakes in the area now number 10 within 100 miles.

This quake was centered in a sparsely populated almost remote area of Baja with only a couple small almost villages located with about 15 miles of the epicenter of the 7.2 but the others are as big as 5.4 and one was in El Centro, CA.

CNN is reporting these quakes as after shocks but they are mile from the big one which is close to the San Andreas Fault that runs 6.5 miles form whaere i live. I only hope these quakes relieve some pressure and reduce the possibility of a major quake from here near Palm Springs to the L.A. area where the lost of life in this magnitude of quake would be devastating.

Recent reports say that California codes even though improved since the 6.6 Sylmar quake are no match of a 7.2 quake.

I'm sure the damages in the communities close to the epicenter will be great and I can only pray there is no loss of live.

The building methods in that area leave a lot to be desired.

FOXNews.com - Magnitude 7.2 Earthquake Reported in Baja California
A strong earthquake south of the U.S.-Mexico border Sunday shook high-rises in downtown Los Angeles and San Diego and was felt across Southern California and Arizona, but there were no immediate reports of major damage.

The 6.9 magnitude quake struck at 3:40 p.m in Baja California, Mexico, about 19 miles southeast of Mexicali, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The area was hit by magnitude 3.0 quakes all week.

The quake was felt as far north as Santa Barbara, USGS seismologist Susan Potter said.

Strong shaking was reported in the Coachella Valley and Riverside, Calif.. The earthquake rattled buildings on the west side of Los Angeles and in the San Fernando Valley, interrupting Easter dinners. Chandeliers swayed and wine jiggled in glasses.

In Los Angeles, the city fire department went on earthquake status and some stalled elevators were reported. No damage was reported in Los Angeles or San Diego.

Re: Western Mexico hit by 7.2 earthquake

I live just north of San Diego and that was by far the strongest earthquake (of the 4 I've felt) I've experienced.

I was outside and cars were swaying and it was similar to being on a moving sidewalk. Really weird feeling.

There seems to be a lot more complaints of people feeling dizzy after this one too, myself included. Anyone have any ideas as to why? Inner ear workings out of synch? Pressure waves?

    It could be that.
Could it possibly also be that the Earthquake causes gases to rise from beneath the Earths crust and that these eventually are released into the atmosphere?

Either way, hope you stay safe.
