Phoning this line to report an abuse by Holy Roman Catholic Church Priests is completely and utterly pointless.
These Holy Roman Catholic Church administrators think they are above the law & that such complaints can be dealt with by the Church itself.
Far far better that these people who claim to have been abused report their claim to the Authorities in the form of the Criminal investigators in whatever Country they are in.

quote from article(A quarter of Catholics in Germany said in a recent survey they had lost faith in the Church leadership.)

    Is this surprising?

Quote(Pope Benedict XVI allegedly knew about one particularly disturbing paedophile case in the United States.

The Rev. Lawrence Murphy spent years molesting children at a school for the deaf in Wisconsin, but when the case came to the attention of the Vatican many years later, the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith, then led by Cardinal Ratzinger before he became pope, declined to take action.)

Pretty much par for the course.

Quote(The pope made no mention of the scandal during his pre-Easter mass at the Vatican yesterday.)

Guess he imagines the less he says the quicker it will be swept under the papal carpet?

These incidents just further hurt the Catholic Church as long as the Pope keeps trying to act like they didn't happen.

As for the hot line, I am thinking this isn't exactly a good idea considering that people can be making false claims anonymously.

I agree that some of the calls may well be false, kind of jumping on the bandwagon.
But many of them may well be genuine!

I think this is exactly what has to happen. I think the Roman Catholic Church needs to change, and today. They have to say, we're gonna go after these folks. We're going to hand them over to Authorities because they are poisoning our Religion and our Church. And they must be punished.

But it seems that everytime they try to cover up and save face, they only dig themselves further into a hole.
