A domestic extremist group has sent letters to more than 30 U.S. governors demanding they resign, the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI said in an intelligence note.

The note, dated Monday, said the letters told the governors to vacate their posts within three days.

The FBI and DHS said there do not appear to be credible or immediate threats of violence attached to the letters.

The group behind the letters has a "Restore America Plan" that calls for the removal of any governor who fails to comply, the intelligence note said. States that have acknowledged receiving the letters include Wisconsin, Oklahoma, Utah, Arkansas, Maine, Colorado, Rhode Island, Michigan, Georgia, Virginia, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Texas, Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio and Nevada.

Thoughts?

Your sig is devoid of any true thought or reality.

What's the big deal, so long as there are no threats of violence?

And some states have democrats and others republican governors.

How does that make them "extremist" for writing letters demanding resignations?

Did we loose our first amendment rights last night?

How does any group have the right to threaten elected officials
There's an obscure little line in the Constitution that allows for free speech... probably a stupid little oversight on the part of the founders, but nonetheless, it's there if you look for it.

How does any group have the right to threaten elected officials, and why is it a "great idea"?

Will, your article specifically states no threats of violence. That means nothing illegal done. Don't go getting carried away.

And the threat would be?

I can't find the text of any of the letters, as they are all in the possession of the FBI. I think it's safe to say that if they weren't threatening, this would not have come to the attention of law enforcement. Why do you insist on defending an extremist group's right to carry out a threatening action about which you have no knowledge?

Do you suggest we waterboard them and see what they know?

Did you even read your own OP?

That is in the 3rd paragraph, so get you panties out of that twist or the next thing you will be saying is that the group is affiliated with the Tea Party.

It would probably be a good idea to investigate why this group thinks it can deliver on an untimatum for 50 governors to resign their office within 3 days.

You seem to be having a real reading problem today.... first paragraph.

Perhaps some could study the difference between their claim of "no threat", to the FBI statement of " ... there do not appear to be credible or immediate threats... " which does not suggest that there were none, just that any that were made were not credible.

True, but that is coming from someone who had some rodents driving as theirs. :)

Its a rabbit. See rabbits are mammals or more specifically Lagomorpha.

If you had stayed in school past the 2nd grade you would have known that ;)

Best not to get your facts from a "texmaster is a meanie" thread in the basement :D

So despite the involvement of the FBI and Homeland Security, and despite the fact you have no knowledge of their contents, you are guaranteeing that these letters are innocent expressions of free speech?
