Doctor tells Obama supporters: Go elsewhere for health care

Regardless, I hope it negatively impacts his practice.

I do too, and it clearly already is. He probably will soon wish he had never put up that sign in the first place (if he doesn't already).

what a teeny little perspective

big picture: HEALTH CARE

YOU CAN'T EXPAND M AND M BY 12 MIL WHILE CUTTING FUNDING BY HALF A T

ALREADY SOME HALF OF OUR DOCTORS REFUSE TO TAKE M's NOR M'S

IT'S GONNA GET A LOT WORSE

now, what was this little doctor's name again?

are you gonna BOYCOTT him?

LOL!

Moderator's Warning:
Stop. You know what the topic is. Stay with that.

I certainly will. But, I wouldn't if I was his patient ;)
Most people will forget, but I'm willing to bet the people who visit his office won't.

Chances are that if he takes that sign down, eventually, the long term harm to his bottom line is negligible.

Really though, these type of stories make for good news ratings and not much else.

There may actually be a law against this, or an ethical rule. But I doubt it.

This strikes me as similar to the pharmacists who refuse to dispense birth control.

Completely different issue, firstly. In this case, I do not believe the doctor is actually saying he would refuse treatment. Secondly, and I'm not sure of this, I believe that it is legal for a pharmacist to do that as long as he gives a referral to someone who WILL fill the prescription.

Regardless, I hope it negatively impacts his practice.

It won't any more than Obama already has.

I'm glad he's standing up for his rights. It'll be interesting if other doctors join him; and if they do, whether or not Obama steps in to mandate who the doctors must provide care for.

Yeah right. That'll hold up in court.

I'm not sure about that either. Depends on the state. And I do believe its unethical though. If you can't do your job, find another one.

Are you kidding?

The guy is a rich asshole who just pissed all over the Hippocratic Oath, forcing his backwards far-rightie fringe views down the throats of his patients.

Florida should strip this clown's license to practice medicine.

Ahhh... THIS is the hysterics that the right is talking about. Please, hazlnut, he's not forcing anything. He's making a political statement in relation to his practice. Poor professionalism and certainly a poor business practice in my opinion, but well within his rights. A patient then has the choice to remain, or not.

And there is nothing that he is doing that should cause him to have his licence revoked.

Most people will forget, but I'm willing to bet the people who visit his office won't.

Years ago, I went to a doctor, who, while examing me, said, "So what are your plans this weekend?" I thought it was a strange question, but when I started to answer the question, he said, "I was asking my nurse." I thought it was unprofessional. I never went back, and have specifically informed my friends that I would not recommend him when asked for a referral. People talk.

In all honesty, all he is doing is hurting his own practice. As Captain said, poor business tactic but not illegal.

Yeah right. That'll hold up in court.

It absolutely would.

I'm not sure about that either. Depends on the state. And I do believe its unethical though. If you can't do your job, find another one.

You're wrong. As a mental health professional, if a client comes to me who wants treatment for being a pedophile, I would tell them that, personally, I will not work with someone like that and I will refer them to someone who will. That is the most ethical thing I could do. It is unethical to provide treatment for someone dealing with an issue that either you have no experience with, or that you are not comfortable providing treatment for.

Now that's a smart Doc! :) I like his attitude.

Bosses should walk through their employees parking lots noting the Obama stickers when they are forced to make layoffs as well.

That's exactly what I thought when I read the article. As a centrist, I would certainly never set foot in his practice again, no matter who I'd voted for. I guess he can afford to play these silly little games.

It absolutely would.

The argument that he's not really turning away patients? I seriously doubt it.

But we don't know if turning away patients this way is illegal anyway.
