Doctor tells Obama supporters: Go elsewhere for health care

Last edited:
Show me one day since that bill passed where a majority of Americans were for it.

That didn't answer my question. Why didn't Obama include even one major idea the Republicans brought him if this was supposed to be bipartisan? Explain yourself.

Iraq war? In hindsight of course not but the intelligence they had at the time and what they could prove were two very different things. There is no evidence at all that proves Bush knew the intelligence was bad. None, zip, zero no matter how many "Bush lied people died" signs you've read.

And no I wouldn't call Bush a good president. Fair but not good. but I doubt very much the reasons I have for that statement coincide with your own.

As far as your polls question, I'm not sure what you mean. If you are asking did he deserve his poll numbers for the most part I would say yes.

It is my understanding that there were several GOP ideas included in the health bill. At least, that's what the news reports. I mean, they were for these ideas before they flipped-flopped and were against them. You mean to tell me the media lied? Say it isn't so! :rofl

As far as what Bush did or did not know, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one. For I am one who believes now, as I did back then, that his manipulation of the media and the cherry-picking of his facts was a carefully orchestrated maneuver to lead our nation to war with Iraq. However, I do conceed, that there were many gullible politicians, on both sides of the aisle, who fell for his bull**** and went along with his plan. The oval office lying in such a serious matter seemed beyond comprehension to some folks. But, like you said, hindsite being 20/20, I would hope we all know better now.

My point was simply, people agree with polls when it agrees with them. I Googled RCP (since that is an "average" polling site,) trying to find a day to day chart with the approval/disapproval ratings to no avail. And I have simply run out of time. If you can find any, I would be interested in knowing.

But here is some propaganda I was able to find Googling. I cannot attest to their validity, however.

However, all that being said, I will be the first to admit, across the board, that most every poll I have seen always tips in the disapproval side. The days I remember it being reported on the approval side can be counted on one hand. Which brings me back to my original point and conclusion. When the polls favor someones ideological beliefs, the poll stands valid. When it doesn't, the poll is written off as invalid. I have seen both sides do this. Surely you can agree.

Thank you for your civil and honest debate. I have to scoot now as I have a date with a lake, canoe and an ultra-light Shimano. If you want to pick it up later, count me in. In the meantime, have yourself a fine Texas weekend and keep your powder dry.

Hey...didja read the article where it said he isn't actually turning anyone away?

I did. The doctor's an ass. Patients go to doctors because they're sick, not to be make a political statement.

the doctor is not the story

Actually the doctor is the story, if you want to rant and rave about Obama, there are plenty of other threads for that. Why don't you complain in one of those?

He might be an ass but he is well within his rights. And he isn't turning anyone away and he isn't asking for a political statement from his patients, so your point is irrelevant.

What is relevant is that he is exercising his free speech and certain elements in this thread just can't stand that. Oh. Well.

I'm not saying he's not allowed to do it. I just think it's unprofessional. No one has commented on my post about how I would feel the same way if I witnessed a doctor call a patient stupid. If I witnessed a doctor give someone the finger. When I see unprofessional behavior, I don't have confidence in that person--whether it be a doctor, police officer, counselor, etc. If this means I "can't stand it," then so be it.

Then so be it. There is a difference between him posting a sign and verbally accosting a patient with abusive berating.

For you there's a difference. But even accepting that there's a difference, the varying levels of unprofessionalism still impact my trust in that person.

what a teeny little perspective

big picture: HEALTH CARE

YOU CAN'T EXPAND M AND M BY 12 MIL WHILE CUTTING FUNDING BY HALF A T

ALREADY SOME HALF OF OUR DOCTORS REFUSE TO TAKE M's NOR M'S

IT'S GONNA GET A LOT WORSE

now, what was this little doctor's name again?

are you gonna BOYCOTT him?

LOL!

I love free speech. I hate the unprofessionalism. I picture someone arriving at his office door who voted for Obama for a followup appointment, and if possible, definitely deciding to walk away without questioning it. Really, what are they supposed to do, go in and pretend they didn't vote for Obama just so that they can get their appointment completed?

I can't stand it.

How about go in and not bother to say one way or the other? How about using their heads for something besides a hat rack and realize that it's just an expression of opinion? How about putting two and two together and realizing "Hey, my ballot was secret" and realizing that he won't possibly know how they voted? Or hey...here's a crazy, whacky idea...walk in, say something during the appointment and use the sign for what it was probably intended...an opening to a conversation with a health professional about what he thinks of the reform?

Typed sign on the door, $0.25.
Urology appointment, $175.00.
Hysterics over free speech, priceless.

I'd ignore him, Dezaad. Don't give his childishness anymore importance than you already have. Move on to someone who actually has something substantive to say. :2wave:

I have multiple friends on Facebook who are doctors, and I was dying to see what they think of the sign, so I posted the article on my Facebook page. I am relieved to say they are just as disgusted as I am. (They are not afraid to take a crack at me because I am an Obama supporter.) I'm glad my friends are professionals.

Oh that's just priceless coming from you.

Oh well holy ****. If it's on facebook, well that just changes everything, doesn't it?

Ahhhhh, it's great to have jallman on ignore now. I love it!

Ah, it's good to have the petty, childish, insignificant tantrums of the old aps back. I love it!

Gladly. And if you were a patient of his and went somewhere else, it sounds like a win/win from the Dr's. perspective.

Yep. I wouldn't want that idiot touching my privates. So I'm glad he outed himself (so to speak).

I had the feeling that most professionals would feel this way, but I don't have anyone in the medical field to ask who is a conservative, which is who I would be most interested in hearing from. I am glad to see that you seem to be able to provide it.

Do we know of any MDs of the conservative persuasion who participate here on the forum?

I was very careful to say "major" ideas because you are right there have been some smaller ideas. But tort reform that has actually worked in Texas or allowing insurance companies to compete over state lines were both refused.

I found the one day conference Obama had with republicans disingenuous and a political stunt IMO.

I found this and it looks like you were right, there are some polls that have a majority liking this bill. Not many but some nonetheless.

Absolutely. Its part of politics :)

You do the same. Its been fun. And I have to admit, I dig your sig :D

Yes yes yes, because aps friends page on facebook represents a scientific poll.

I don't think I was shooting for a scientific poll. I was more wanting to hear their opinions and rationale.

I doubt aps believes it is a scientific poll. But, the thing you have to ask yourself when given any information is: 'Am I better off with this information than without it?' and then qualify your answer as necessary. I am sure aps has her own method of evaluating the worth of the information she receives.
