I am in my early fifties. Most of my doctors are in their late fifties or early sixties. I am lucky, I have great insurance and can afford the best doctors in my area. My orthopaedist is a well known doctor-he was the team doctor for the NFL team here in town. He said he is going to retire-he doesn't need the money because not only has he made millions doing knee jobs on professional athletes, he married into a very wealthy family. My ENT is in his early sixties-he planned on practicing until 70 but right now he is going to retire.

you are right, people who still have student loads to pay off or haven't been around a while aren't going to start selling ladies dresses or handguns or cars but the people who have been around a while are able to retire

that so many people apparently support this idiotic bill not because they understand what it will do but because they HOPE it screws over doctors and insurance companies is pathetic

but the fact remains-most schemes that are passed to slake the class envy of the unwashed masses tend to bite the proletariats the hardest

Interesting isn't it. First we were told, you have not seen the final bill so any flaws pointed out are lies, per the president. Now we are told there is a bill but it will be fixed with regulations.

So the best defenders can do is say that trust me, that isn't what the bill says but not what it means.

I would be ashamed if made to make these lame excuses.
It is my understanding that the pre-existing clause does not come into effect for 4 years.

I would think that in four years most people that have a pre-existing condition right now will die, however they will be paying into the system by law to pay for people in 4 years that have pre-existing conditions.

It is a little confusing but the people that are forced to buy insurance now, will have insurance when they get sick over the next 4 years and the sick people now will be dead so I am not sure if there will be such a large high risk pool.

Of course those that have milked as much money from the system as possible are going to retire. They are the reason we needed reform in the first place. Time to open up med schools and let anyone that has the ability and desire to be a doctor, be one. We need new blood anyway. No more rationing of med schools.

You people worry about the doctors too much. They will come out of this just fine. They will still be the richest people in town.

i would suggest we create national medical academies modelled on west point, annapolis and the AFA
there are lots of individuals qualified to study medicine but there are insufficient seats for them and/or inadequate funds available to cover the cost of a medical education
train our future doctors and receive a year for year obligation to perform public medical service in the destination of the government's choosing
create a supply of medical practitioners adequate to cover the demand for medical services
we are negotiating about dividing a pizza and in the meantime israel is eating it

I have a law degree, which I received in 1995. Please explain to me how the 10th amendment has been violated, because I don't understand how you can make that conclusion.

I am not sure if you are joning or are serious. First, many people who have pre-existing conditions probably will not die in 4 years. Also there will be a new cadre of people who get some condition in the meantime.

I am not a lawyer so do not claim to be as versed as you. Doesn't the tenth amendment speak to any powers not spelled out for the federal government go to the states. States have come up with their own ways of handling this.

The court as constituted has a majority of strict constitutionalists as you saw in the decision that got Obama so worked up.

I do not think anyone who is honest about it can predict which way the supreme court will go with this.

my take is, given a choice between two physicians, one whose focus is money and the others whose focus is wellness, i want to choose the latter doctor to attend to my medical needs
