Frankly this is puzzling to me because it's out of character for Obama. He still is pushing to destroy the economy with his his climate change and energy bill, to fight problems that does not exist.

This is confusing at best, and makes me wonder what is really going on or is this a misdirection play to once again try to draw attention away from the PHONY Health Plan and all the taxes coming from it.

Curious, I can't wait to see what he comes up with next, it's a month away from April Fools day.

FOXNews.com - Obama to Unveil Offshore Oil Drilling Plans

March 31, 2010

In a reversal of a long-standing ban on most offshore drilling, the president is allowing oil drilling 50 miles off Virginia's shorelines, and is allowing an expansion in Alaska's Cook Inlet to go forward.

WASHINGTON -- In a reversal of a long-standing ban on most offshore drilling, President Barack Obama is allowing oil drilling 50 miles off Virginia's shorelines. At the same time, he is rejecting some new drilling sites that had been planned in Alaska.

Obama's plan offers few concessions to environmentalists, who have been strident in their opposition to more oil platforms off the nation's shores. Hinted at for months, the plan modifies a ban that for more than 20 years has limited drilling along coastal areas other than the Gulf of Mexico.

Obama was set to announce the new drilling policy Wednesday at Andrews air base in Maryland. White House officials pitched the changes as ways to reduce U.S. reliance on foreign oil and create jobs -- both politically popular ideas -- but the president's decisions also could help secure support for a climate change bill languishing in Congress.

It's actually a day away from April fools.

By the way, have you ever heard the word "paranoia"?

I would support Obama on this if he is really planning to allow companies to drill, I just wonder what gave him the change of heart. Drilling really isn't a major thing that he has been talking about. However if he does this then that's a +1 in my book. I probably wouldn't vote for him in 2012 but my support for him would go up for making the right decision in my opinion.

It looks to me like political deal-making in order to get some of the Republicans on board with Cap and Trade. Bad deal for us the taxpayers.

Well I saw in the Fox article that it isn't many sites, just ones off the coast of Virginia, however he also closed sites in Alaska. So I'm not sure if this is actually bringing in more, or if it's a redistribution of where you can drill. I need to educate myself more on the issue though.

i faintly remember somebody being chastised for saying "drill baby drill"......what happened to all the windmill farms that were going to save the world?

They toppled onto a bunch of uninsured workers. And I, too, remember the phrase 'drill baby drill'. Wasn't that the same chick who could see Russia from her house in Alaska? Wow! I need to talk to my eye doctor about gettin' her kind of lenses!

Interesting that The Obama will act on McCain's campign promises, but not His own.

Close Gitmo-no
Get out of Afganhistan-no
Get out of Iraq-no

Lie to get elected-yep!:shock::shock::shock:

This has to be an April Fools day prank.

Was Obama against drilling in the past?

It's almost as if Obama is not acting solely based on a radical left communist agenda...

As if he were actually... fairly moderate!

I wonder if anyone has informed Obama that Global warming is not caused by humans, and that the Earth has seen virtually no warming since 1995. :bright:

Compromise is actually a good idea in the kind of partisan atmosphere you have in Washington. Neither side has all the answers so reaching common ground is probably the way to go right now. Especially when it comes to economic policies.

Politicians should start working together to solve problems instead of fighting and bickering all the time.

Did you now that Russia is now drilling in the Gulf of Mexico?

I wonder if this decision is in reponse to that.

cap and trade is kaput, this party will never follow president pie-in-the-face over another of his party-killing precipices

I dunno... there are a lot of lemmings in Congress right now.
