Magnets Can Manipulate Morality : Discovery News
Fascinating. As we come closer to deciphering the working of the brain, experiments are going to come closer and closer to what we consider to be the soul. My personal question is how far is too far.Using a powerful magnetic field, scientists from MIT, Harvard University and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center are able to scramble the moral center of the brain, making it more difficult for people to separate innocent intentions from harmful outcomes. The research could have big implications for not only neuroscientists, but also for judges and juries.
One thing is certain though. If we can ever resolve the workings of the brain and model it mathematically, we could begin to start answering questions like whether natural rights exist.
