Feds: Philly Man Threatened GOP Leader

PHILADELPHIA - Federal authorities said Monday that a Philadelphia man has been charged with threatening in a YouTube video to kill Congressman Eric Cantor and his family.

Norman Leboon, 38, of the 1600 block of Brenner Street, was arrested Saturday and charged with two different counts, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.

Cantor is the Republican Whip in the House and representative for Virginia's 7th District.

Its pretty obvious to me that our democrat politicians are enciting people to violence. Wait a minute, isn't that what liberals are accusing the evil republicans of doing. Dems need to zip it and stop throwing around accusations.

Re: Man charged with threatening to kill Cantor and his family

There is no justifiable basis for the recent threats of violence, among other ugly acts, against Members of Congress from either major political party. Such threats or acts are wholly unwarranted and those responsible should be held fully accountable for any criminal acts they might pursue or carry out.

In the larger scheme of things, the maintenance of a republic in which free citizens work through the nation's political institutions and electoral process in helping shape the nation's policies is vastly more important than the outcome in the recent health care debate. Indeed, were appeals to extremes, efforts at intimidation, and acts of violence to become a significant form of the nation's political discourse, such an outcome would render the nation's republican form of government obsolete and wholly inconsistent with its Founders' principles. That such conduct might be carried out in the name of "protecting" or "advancing" freedom would not change the illiberal nature of such conduct and its fundamental attack on the rule of law that safeguards individual freedom.

So because a Republican was threatened you are under the impression that Democrats are not being threatened?

    how did you get that?

No, he's under the impression that democrats are grandstanding hypocrites for saying that republicans are inciting people to violence, when republicans are getting threatened as well.

How exactly are democrats inciting people to violence? I haven't heard democrats supporting secession like Rep King and Governor Perry has.

I think this Philadelphia man is if not insane then profoundly wrong and his actions deserve to be condemned.

I don't think Democratic political leaders have incited political violence in their language or in their deeds. And, sad to say, I don't feel the same about many conservative leaders in this country.

I see. You think Republicans aren't contributing to the threats?

Do you think it incites to violence that democrats (including Obama) are accusing insurance companies of willfully causing the death of many people and accusing republicans of being on the side of the insurance companies?

Or when Alan Grayson basically says that the republicans beleive all the sick should just up and die?
