I think one of my biggest problems with the mandate part of this bill is that everyone knows that the intention of the bill is to force everyone to buy insurance. But at the same time our great leaders know that fining them for not getting it would be unconstitutional. So instead of doing the right thing and change the constitution they are going to use a loophole to sneak around it. Knowingly evading the intent of our founding principles is a very slippery slope to head down and one neither side should allow. If you don't like something in the constitution do the right thing and ammend it. God this pisses me off and it is something both sides are doing more and more.

do you find it prudent to replace the public option with this mandate on individuals to go out and buy PRIVATE insurance, is that what universal coverage means to you?

do you find it prudent, in times like these, to put that kind of obligation on folks already insecure in their jobs, already holding mortgages tens of thousands of dollars underwater?

what do you think such expensive imposition is gonna do to consumer spending, for example?

are you aware of the class act and its effect on the young invulnerables?

i don't know the legalities of this mercenary mandate but the politics are clear:

1. the legal challenge will be made, it will go nowhere

2. say goodbye to the youth vote, already depressed in virginia, jersey and massachusetts

Utter nonsense. The tax penalty for not having health insurance maxes out at 2% of income. Health insurance is far more expensive than 2% of income. The health insurance tax penalty is nothing more than an incentive. If costs were an individuals only concern, it would be far cheaper to go without health insurance and just pay the tax penalty.
