FOXNews.com - Choice, Life Groups Slam Obama Order on Abortion Funding

21 March 2010

Pro-choice and pro-life groups on Sunday strongly denounced a deal by pro-life Democrats and President Obama to ensure limits on taxpayer money for abortion services, outlined in a Senate health insurance overhaul now on the verge House approval.

I'm confused. Why are pro-life congressmen slamming an effort to eliminate taxpayer subsidy of abortion?

I for one have never been able to figure out why when this topic comes up there is never any discussion about the reason people feel abortions are needed and then address the route cause that creates the perceived need and thus reduce the numbers considerably.

One of the causes for abortion in young people is dishonestly by adults in dealing with sex education, not unlike the lies told about smoking pot and calling it a gate way drug.

I can make the same lame argument about another product that I'm pretty sure I can prove beyond a shadow of doubt every single user of hard drugs used before they moved on to the hard stuff, and the argument makes about as much sense. That gate way substance is milk.

You see we create lies about things and tell our kids and when they find out Mom & Dad lied about one thing the kids figure what else did they lie about?

This creates a needless and dangerous curiosity in the mind of children.

As for adults the best I can say if they are for the most part lazy and or stupid and get pregnant for no good reason then want to take what they see as the easy way out.

More and better birth control measures need to be readily available to women at reasonable costs from the time they reach puberty.

I do find it puzzling that the Party that claims the high ground on Human rights is the one that pushes the killing of the innocent unborn who's only crime is having irresponsible Mothers and Fathers.

It seemed like a last minute compromise and I think it suited the needs of America. Abortion is a super sensitive issue in your part of the world.

So they got what they wanted, and now they are pissed. I am going to have a hard time feeling bad for them.

My guess is that they'd be upset that its a signing order, not something actually in the law, which makes it a bit questionable in regards to the amount of teeth it will actually have.

Its one of those things, if they REALLY wanted to put in provisions to keep tax payer funding from going to abortion services then why not add it to the actual bill and make it actual law than have a promise of an executive order which may or may not be enforced and can be stripped away by presidential fiat at any given time.

Killing unborn is an oxymoron. By scientific fact, fetuses/embryos don't qualify as homosapiens. So by that standard, McDonald's is guilty of "killing innocents" too, since cows used to make big macs are "biologically living organisms" (even if they aren't human beings). Aborting a fetus/embryo is way more responsible than letting it develop into a baby that you can't support or that would just be thrown in an orphanage.

I would give some credence to this is their was any evidence that the likelihood under the bill as written that it would fund abortions. The community health centers at the heart of the issue do not perform abortions, did not before the Hyde Amendment, and have no apparent interest in performing them at all.

Source: PolitiFact | Lipinski says Senate health bill allows taxpayer money to pay directly for abortion at federal community health centers

excellent post, until the last sentence. no one is pushing abortion, and in fact it is conservatives who refuse to accept the fact that contraceptives should be easily and widely available.

BS. Abortions are going to skyrocket. I've heard estimates of around 30 percent more.

Celebrate on. More dead babies!! Yeah!!

I heard the world was going to end in 2012, but I don't pay attention to stupid rumors.

Yep, I heard people are going to have abortion parties on Saturday nights now and that McDonalds will offer a free abortion with every Big Mac meal. :rofl

Stupak caved.....They did not get what they wanted......And executive order does not mean squat........It can be rescinded by a president any time and the biggest pro abortion president in Obama is likely to do just that......
