And it probably (but I don't know yet until more reports come out) has costed more than the average night. It's mostly likely wildly inefficient and anything but fiscally responsible.

And we haven't even seen the court challenges that will come out of it.
Probably only caught 55 cause the publicity warned all the even vaguely smart criminals to lay low for the night…

I find that incredibly hard to believe. I imagine of those 55, probably 10-15 of them already had bench warrants and that's what they were arrested on so there was no crime prevention at all with them.

I just need to see some statistics on the breakdown of what the arrests were for. If it was 55 drug dealers all charged with distribution and intent to sell, I would call it a mild success. If it was 4 drug dealers, 15 people with bench warrants for failure to appear in traffic court, 10 drunk drivers, and an assortment of domestic violence, public drunkeness, and bar fights, then I would be hesitant to call it anything but just another night.

    I have no idea.

My statement was made with a element of humor in mind.

I know. I got the humor in it. I just don't give criminals that much credit.

I'm just saying it's easy to spin this into a success and that's what one would want to do because on the surface, this Sheriff Joe guy seems like he would be a hero and I am sure his heart is in the right place despite most of his activities looking more like showboating than anything else. I've just learned in my life that if someone is really a hero, then they will remain a hero even after being treated with a little skepticism.

Not all is squeeky clean in the supervisors. Since the Goldwater Inst. report started some of this, read this one.
High Fliers: How Political Insiders Gained an Edge in Sky Harbor Concessions | Goldwater Institute
Taking some shady loans by Mary Wilcox. This was one of the cases MCSO was involved in if I remember correctly. Board throws stones at MCSO, MCSO throws back. Isn't politics grand.
Thomas got thrown off the case for conflict of interest and the judge pointed out the unacceptable behavior by both Thomas and Arpaio throughout the whole investigation. Wilcox may actually have committed a crime, but that doesn't excuse the illegal actions through which Arpaio went after her.

The reason for my post wasy some pointed to the Goldwater Report that MCSO is not run very well. Then someone wanted to it explained why MCSO went after some country supervisors. I provided another Goldwater report outlining the possible illegal dealings of Wilcox. That is what MCSO looked into and other charges.

I realize a Grand Jury is looking into "Joe". Until he is charged and proven guilty, IMO he is breaking no law with the "sweeps" he is doing.

Could it be, it was a perfectly normal day, and they just did a press conference to make it seem special?

"Maricopa County Sheriff's deputies arrested 111 people during a two-day crime-suppression sweep that ended Friday night.

Of those arrested, 78 are suspected of being in the U.S. illegally, a spokesman for the Sheriff's Office said.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio said that his deputies were not arresting people without cause, and that the majority of those arrested were suspected of having committed felonies."

At the end of the sweep, officials said they'd arrested 111 people and seized nearly five pounds of methamphetamines and nearly 900 pounds of marijuana

You cannot argue with those numbers unless you are pro crime...
