"All Black People" Asked to Leave S. Jersey Wal-Mart

When you have "leaders", in the inner city, such as Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson promoting a victim mentality and disparaging the brilliant analysis and prescription of Bill Cosby and John McWhorter and others, then there is a lot of cluelessness.

I will quote South Park "Jessie Jackson, is not the Emperor of black people."

So we should judge all whites in the boonies by the likes of David Duke etc? Interesting.

I in no way mean that all of the black committee, if you could even narrow it down to one, feel the same way, but there is broad support for victimhood.

I actually agree. You should have put it this way.

If you are from the inner city, joined the service, got a college degree, then you have escaped it and I congratulate you. You are the exception.

Actually I am the rule, not the exception.

I wish the media would stop portraying us as helpless idiots. Many I know from school did as well or better than I. You never hear about us to much. Would not make for good news.

It's funny, when you do we are made fun of and told we "left" our people behind etc. Or like in the case of Collen Powell, it was only because of government help and affirmative action.

No, he is not the "exception".
Stop trying to play "good nigger/bad nigger", okay?
He's one of the few "good" ones; you're talking about all the others, right?

NO.

OK, what does wealth distribution have to do with the high rate of unemployment among black males?......;)

You tell me?

I really don't have time to get into it, but your statement reeks of how blacks are victimized by wealth distribution....

And your statement just reeks of something else. ;)

If that's true and you are the rule, then that is immensely newsworthy.

I am under a false impression that inner-city kids see drug dealers and hip-hop stars and athletes who can't read as their role models and usually the drug dealership is most readily accomplished, then they are into gangs and violence and juvie, and adult crime and prison and back to the projects earning welfare.

I agree that the media should stop portraying you as helpless idiots. I occasionally watch a program of blacks in America and the success stories are way out of balance with the distress stories.

Looks like is was a prank by some 16 year old. "The arrest of a 16-year-old Washington Township, N.J., boy for saying “All black people, leave the store now” over a Wal-Mart public-address system is, in retrospect, in the same family of ill-considered pranks that might’ve been used by a member of the Brat Pack in a 1980s John Hughes film."

"But days after a government statement that at least one report of a runway Toyota Prius was also, if not a prank, at least solely driver error, the Wal-Mart arrest shows that, in some cases of apparent corporate negligence or even racism, the media could use a little more skepticism."

Wal-Mart ?All black people leave? arrest a media wake-up call / The Christian Science Monitor - CSMonitor.com

"According to the police, the boy picked up a public-address telephone in the Wal-Mart in Washington Township, one of two dozen accessible to the store’s customers, and said, “All black people, leave the store now.”

Looks like Wallyworld will have to lock up PA system for now on.:3oops: Wonder how many will still blame WalMart?

It is. Black females are leaving the males in the dust as well. They are doing it by leaps and bounds, but you never hear about it.

Most of those athletes now days have good college educations. Why do you think they can't read???

Seems to me you spent allot of time attributing only the worst case scenario to blacks.

However far to many do idolize the wrong element, but this is not a majority.

I agree that the media should stop portraying you as helpless idiots. I occasionally watch a program of blacks in America and the success stories are way out of balance with the distress stories.

Yep.

That's great! I actually knew that university enrollment for black women was way up.

You got me on this one. Bad generalization. I do that a lot. Most athletes, black and white, struggle with academics, but schools have gotten better. I am from NC and the school there that excelled was Duke. Their players REALLY got an education.

Only because we have been focusing on where many blacks fall short. I went to a small college and studied Physics. We graduated 5 in my senior class. 2 of them were black women that rock in Physics! My first job after college I worked with a preachers daughter from SC and she was totally together. My boss' boss is a retired Marine Corp Colonel. I have known a lot of bright, talented blacks in my life so far. You are another.

I have also run across a lot of victimized blacks. They are usually Democrats.

It's Wal-Mart's ****ing fault because they don't have better security on their PA systems.

Then again, if they did, you would never hear anyone use them.

Considering the average mental capacity of Wal-Mart managers...

So... if you sort of knew all this already, why have you been making these preposterous and offensive racist blanket statements?

So... if you sort of knew all this already, why have you been making these preposterous and offensive racist blanket statements?

First of all, I may be guilty of overgeneralizations, but I never meant all blacks fall into a particular category. That is ridiculous.

Second, I haven't been making racist statements.

Third, there is a marked distinction between the successful blacks I have know and the helpless blacks I have known: it is the idea of victimization.

The successful blacks I have known don't consider for a moment that they are victims. I have talked to some of them about it. They aren't looking for reparations. They don't rely on welfare or government assistance. They work for a living. They don't feel as if they are owed anything. They know they have to get it for themselves. They follow Bill Cosby's prescriptions.

The helpless blacks all thought they were victims and somebody owed them something. Worthless. The Democratic party (I am no Republican) promotes this idea of victimization. Many inner city ministries promote this idea. A telling sign was the reaction of these people to Bill Cosby's talk a few years back. They blamed Bill Cosby for falsely promoting success, when the people were victims. Unbelievable.

Nice of you to drop by again, after ignoring my other posts on your claim that blacks are victimized, in order to proclaim my statement as racist.

Well, you know, prove it. What is racist about it? I speak the truth. Hard to swallow for you victimizing liberals.

Oh, yet another Fox News inspired "talking point"....that all liberals are enablers for blacks to perpetuate their perceived roles as "victims".
Just because you think it or say it, doesn't make it so.

Who said anything about victimization? I commented on your "per capita" comment only. Now if you have evidence to prove me wrong, let it fly. Otherwise the only one playing a victim here would be you. ;)

Amazing when an truth arises out of chaos.

There we go....I wondered how long it would take before someone took to scapegoating the "usual suspects", Al and Jesse. Oh, and lest we forget the counter to Bill Cosby's tirade on the black poor, Dr. Michael Eric Dyson's retort, "Is Bill Cosby Right?"
Was Bill Cosby right about race in America? - History and politics.

So called "victimhood" is a white based, conservative right wing "talking point" and bumper sticker, and nothing more. It's code for black people and Democrats, and liberals. I'm from the inner city (Chicago and Houston), went 1-A in the draft and missed being called up, for a war I would have never fought in (Vietnam War), and would have opted for a CO, if the call had come through...encountered racism from the faculty of the University of Houston, and later landed a college level position in the Texas Medical Center, with determination and smarts. I've never asked for handout. Never got one either.
Some of us work for "ours"...contrary to popular belief.

Some people thought it was funny, oh well so what? They'll laugh at anyone being offended. Assholes.

Now about that being offended bit. I fail to see how the black people in the store being offended translates to them being victims. Someone being offended does not make them a victim in my book. I notice 1069 has failed to respond to any post questioning her wild claims. I guess you know when you are holding an indefensible position.

I originally posted "hear, hear", when I meant the opposite.
I condemn your characterization. Black people in the store were "victimized" by a racially-based prank.
Apparently, criminal charges are being brought against the juvenile offender, and rightfully so.
I agree with 1069's position.

Any charge will be a trumped up one so that the 'victims' can feel jusified in their 'moral outrage'.....
I suppose he should get life in prison, so the 'victims' can heal.....
There is so much BS flying, I want to donate to his defense fund........

Per capita means little when you look at wealth distribution in this country. :doh

Per capita says that as a pecentage there are far more blacks on welfare & unemployment than any other category.......;)
I could be wrong about unemployment as one must first work to be eligible....;)

So, I was curious about this word "victim".

And, thus:
Victim - According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary
Main Entry: vic•tim
Pronunciation: \ˈvik-təm\
Function: noun
Etymology: Latin victima; perhaps akin to Old High German wīh holy
Date: 15th century
1 : a living being sacrificed to a deity or in the performance of a religious rite
2 : one that is acted on and usually adversely affected by a force or agent <the schools are victims of the social system>: as a (1) : one that is injured, destroyed, or sacrificed under any of various conditions <a victim of cancer> <a victim of the auto crash> <a murder victim> (2) : one that is subjected to oppression, hardship, or mistreatment <a frequent victim of political attacks> b : one that is tricked or duped <a con man's victim>
Obviously the first definition does not apply in this case...I hope.

So it would seem the second must.

I find myself seemingly somewhat in the middle on this.

I don't consider "inner city blacks" (or any subset of the population in a similar situation) to be powerless in the face of whatever force is causing them to be in such a situation.

Neither, however, do I consider them exclusively to blame (due to laziness, or whatever) for their own situation.

I think there are multiple factors involved, most of which I probably don't even know exist.

Since I'm a selfish bastard, and have more important things to do (*goes off to play a PC game*), I probably won't take the time to find out.

What could I possibly do if I did know all the factors (which would probably be the work of a lifetime in itself)?

Write a book?

Been done.

Give speeches about it?

Also done.

Has it really changed anything?

Not so far as I can tell.

Although I will say that it seems the poor people in the US (even the homeless), are filthy rich, compared to some in other countries.

It's a f'd up world.

Stop the over dramatics.

This entire statement is disgustingly racist.

Clearly you are unable to support your calling me and my statement racist. You best think twice before making that claim in the future. It shows you for the disgusting crappy partisan apologist reactionary that you are.

From your own statistics...

"4.The gap follows the trend. When unemployment rises, for example, the gap rises indicating that the black unemployment rate rises faster than the white rate during recessions."

I wonder why that is?

Your argument is racist and pathetic. Then defeated by your own source.

Give it up.

Ummm... Your generalizing statements were racist. Like I said make no mistake. So much so you had to explain you did not mean it that way.

Don't turn this into partisan garbage when that has nothing at all to do with it.

In fact, you were the only one to bring politics into it. Even CC came in to put a quick stop to it.

Right.

But, but affirmative action!

You can't win this.
