Pa. woman accused of recruiting jihadists

The vast majority of people who get caught up in these groups are fairly intelligent (and may or may not be well educate).

Many suicide bombers have been college educated and received advanced degrees, even studied at foreign universities.

I'm not trying to defend or excuse the actions they take, but I think it's a mistake to write jihadists off as "stupid"

Education doesn't necessarily indicate intelligence. Look at The Shrub as an example.

Buy this man a beer. This is the single fact that our so called leaders have never been able to grasp. They somehow think that the Middle Easterner has the same desire as them and wants a Starbuck on every corner.

Some argue that it is a matter of conditioning, rather than being "hardwired," as I put it. But, regardless of what you call it, we are ALL products of our conditioning and environment. Our thought processes might as well be from different planets, regardless of what you call it.

No matter what the commercial says, a caveman can't "do the Hustle" and master the art of jazz hands. Neither can the folks on that side of the world grasp our sense of priority and value. Neither can we, theirs. Neither can we be convinced their ideals and values and tactics are rightous in character. It's just not feasible.

And yes. Buy this man a beer. :drink

Not impossible. Part of my area of specialty for my degree in political science is the Middle East and I honestly dont see what you say as true. We may have fundamental disconnects about the value of certain things and social ideas, but that doesnt mean it's impossible to relate or communicate.

Wouldn't they actually have had to break some laws, be indicted and convicted in order for that to happen? Whereas Mrs. Conyers has already completed all those steps, so I don't think your little fantasy is going to come true.

I just watched a show on the animal planet where a gorilla was able to communicate using hand signals. Perhaps you're right.

I wouldnt use that analogy but I assure you, successful cross-cultural communication IS possible.

It's an assault on Westerners (particularly Americans) who perform acts of crime, go to prison, and come out converted Muslims. Why?
