Take what savings you can get, then push harder for more.

Cut enough of a Congressman's salary, and he'll start cutting government programs.
Pfft, 7.6 million over 2 years. That's not even noticeable on our budget or debt. Let me know when you get to at least 100 billion, then we're starting to have a 1% or so effect.

I am sure that the total pay of all the politicians in office is chump change compared to the budget, But 7.6 million dollars is still a lot of money
"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murder is less to fear"

It's a lot of money to us normal folk. But it doesn't do anything on the scale of our GDP or debt.

Yes, really it is, except for Congress - I wonder if both sides there will really come together on this?

It is still $7.6 million less.Seems only reasonable that if cuts are being made then so should their salaries be cut as well.

While that part may seem reasonable, it's still not even a drop in the bucked. It's maybe a few water molecules in the bucket.

    I agree....
What they EARN ( or get paid by the taxpayer, earn is a stretch) is only a drop in the bucket, it is what they STEAL that is the bigger issue....

it only seems fair that congress should be impacted by the same conditions facing everyone else right now...

By proposing them, though, she puts them in the position of looking even more obviously greedy than they already do, or taking the same cost-saving measures that some of their constituents are. It becomes a matter of principle, and an ethical test.
