BBC News - Russia blames Nato for heroin surge from Afghanistan

Quote from article(Victor Ivanov said at least 30,000 people died in Russia every year from heroin, 90% of it from Afghanistan.

He blamed the Obama administration for ending a military drive to destroy opium poppy crops in Afghan fields.

The US said the practice was alienating farmers and driving them to support the Taliban.)

Perhaps instead of continuing to supply the Taliban with arms, Russia might join with the allies in finally winning against the Taliban in Afghanistan and then eradicate the poppy fields.
If Al Quaeda and the Taliban are defeated Russia will become a more secure country.

Raw opium is a form of currency in the tribal regions of Afghanistan. Destroying it means destroying their livelihood. I also highly doubt that it will be destroyed even if the war is won by the West. It's too valuable of a cash crop and has pharmaceutical value.

It would be far better and in the long run a hell of a lot cheaper if the Allies were to purchase the entire crop, destroy what is not required by the Phamacutical Industry.

Until Russia stops selling weapons to Iran, they can quite plainly go **** themselves.

Once they stop selling nuclear secrets to Iranian terrorist assholes, THEN AND ONLY THEN will they have any room to complain.
