Obama: Bipartisan health deal may not be possible

As was predicted this was a dog and pony show. Obama played Dicky the Dictator throught out.

And mow he wants the to use the nuclear option.

    Is anyone surprised?

Obama: Bipartisan health deal may not be possible - Yahoo! News

WASHINGTON After a day of debate and disagreement, President Barack Obama concluded Thursday's unprecedented live talkfest on health care with the bleak assessment that accord between Democrats and Republicans may not be possible. He rejected Republican preferences for seeking a step-by-step solution or simply starting over.

Obama strongly suggested that Democrats will try to pass a sweeping overhaul without GOP support, by using controversial Senate budget rules that would disallow filibusters. And then, he said, this fall's elections would write the verdict on who was right.

"We cannot have another yearlong debate about this," Obama said at the end of a 7 1/2-hour marathon policy session.

Neither side gave much ground, sticking mostly to familiar arguments and talking points. The president urged Republicans to "do a little soul searching" but said majority Democrats would decide quickly how to move forward on a priority that has eluded leaders for half a century.

I'm not a partisan but I've got to say Obama has shown a real desire to make something happen that both parties can support, the last year of his efforts are evidence of that enough for me.

    Are you kidding me?

If chairman Obama was serious about a bipartisan bill then why do the Demoncats plot our healthcare fate behind closed doors, even when it was promised by the chairman that the meetings would be open to the public?

Why do they not consider Republican ideas like buying across state lines or tort reform?

No.....this whole meeting was a sham meant to fail & then the Statists will use it to say we tried to get a bipartisan bill when there was never any intention to find common ground. Starting monday they will try to shove this crappy bill down our throat (even when 75% of the public doesnt want it) as planned all along after they lost there filibuster proof majority.

I have never seen such a corrupt arrogant bunch that we currently have in power. My prediction if they pass this with only 51 is that the Statists will lose there majority in the congress for possibly a decade or more because we will not forgive them..... ever.

The reason this won't happen is because conservatives are recalcitrant and spread lies about current policies in the hopper. Republicans have been far from helpful and have in fact been acting like children who aren't getting their way. If we go the way of the conservative ideas, our country fill fall financially and corporations will rule by proxy. Don't like tyranny? Well then don't vote Republican.
It's time for a revolution in our country. Not a revolution forged with guns and bombs but a revolution forged of compassion and altruism. A revolution that extends a hand to those who don't have and who cannot. A revolution that makes Health Care available to all those in the US.

Please... I'm dying to hear what all these lies are?

Could they be...... that the debate on healthcare would be televised by C-span but wasnt?

Could it be that illegal aliens would not be included but are?

Could it be that costs would be lower but wont according to the budget office?

I could go on & on....

Opps thats right these werent Republican promises were they...

Republicans have been far from helpful and have in fact been acting like children who aren't getting their way.
Really? it looks to me like its the Statists who arent getting there way... so much so that they apparently have to resort to the so called "Nuclear Option" to get there way despite the polls which have only 25% of the public approving this monstrosity.

While I can agree that George W spent way to much, I can hardly believe you would blame Republicans for the countries financial woes when Chairman Obama has outspent all other presidents before him combined in his first year. So much so your Grandchildren will still be paying for it.

Corporations rule by Proxy? Please show me a corporation that forces you to buy something you dont want or you will be fined then throws you in jail if you dont pay? Now thats tyranny

    Aside from death panels?

    1. You'll have no choice in what health benefits you receive.

    2. No chemo for older Medicare patients.

    3. Illegal immigrants will get free health insurance.

    4. The government will set doctors' wages.

More than all other presidents before him combined?

80% of a our debt is Republican debt, accrued under Reagan and the Bush's. That's most of what our grandchildren will be paying.

What I found hilarious throughout the summit was Obama's arrogance and condescension. Everything the Republicans said was characterized as a "talking point" by Obama. (And of course, the Democrats are so above talking points!) This was just a silly show and a complete waste of time because Obama is way too arrogant to concede any points. As usual, this was merely a political tactic by Obama to give his administration some semblance of bipartisanship, without ever intending to truly reach across the isle.

Obama should concede a point after the Republicans admit they were lying about death panels to fire up the base.

They weren't in the bill, therefore they cannot exist.
