LOS ANGELES – Cash-strapped Los Angeles is going to the dogs — literally.
The City Council voted Tuesday to have two departments share information in order to track down people who haven't licensed their pets.
Council President Eric Garcetti estimates two-thirds of the city's dogs are unlicensed. Licenses cost $15 for a sterilized dog and $100 for an unaltered pet.
Getting all dogs licensed would mean at least an additional $3.6 million in fees to the city.

You know, people have enough problems without having to worry about the city taxing everything that moves.

The City I was a Councilman in added a new and wonderful money making Idea to the books.

Cat licenses. That's right they passed it even after they got an ear full from citizens.

I say they because it was doing before I started being on the short end of a lot of 5 to 1 votes. I like to say they were close 6 to 1 votes.

Wait till the discussion comes up to license Gerbils, Hamsters, and Parakeets, then you'll know for sure you're in the land of the Granola people where those what ain't fruits and nuts is flakes.

Oh wow I just had an epiphany. License pedestrians, if you walk from your car across a public side walk you must be licensed or pay a $100 fine.

Wow I wonder if can get on the L.A. City Council?

As in.... papers please???? You have to always have your pet license on you when out in public? If so, that's insane.

"you there, with the daschund"
"yes?"
"is this dog yours?"
"of course it is"
"may i see your license please?"
"sure officer, it's right here.......oh wait, it must be in my other pants"
"thats it, you're under arrest for unlicensed dog walking, you have the right to remain silent.................."

And it will only cost how much to collect those fees?
