Teacher was wrong based on school policy. I wonder what the student thinks about being an American?

We have gone to far in being PC, "what is it in for me", "Its not my fault", and "the govt. owes me". IMO, America is not what it use to be, and that is not a good thing.

So if someone doesn't want to say the Pledge of Allegiance, it means they are anti-American/unpatriotic? Give me an effing break, jamesrage.

So someone NOT saying the Pledge of Allegiance causes you to think that the person must have a negative opinion on being an American?

The ignorance in this thread is astonishing.

Its is NOT anti-American/non-patriotic to protest. But it is disrespectful/impolite to do this in class. Maybe the child does not know better(did I??), but the parents and adults should..
A good teacher would accept this protest, then throw away the lesson plan and give a class on proper protesting.
And, also stress proper spelling...as it was for me.
Mispell the word heart and be punished by detention..
Lets see who catchs this one.

Religion isn't the only thing people use to weasel out of military duty.

You do know that Francis Bellamy (1855 - 1931), a Baptist minister, wrote the original Pledge in August 1892. He was a Christian Socialist
You do know that there is a lot more history to this that comes in after Mr Bellamy don't you?

An apology is not a correction, it's the NEA with their hand up the principal's ass operating his mouth.

    Oh, so true..
But, there was a time before these rituals..
    Is the Pledge really necessary?
    Yes, its is, IMO.
Also, respect and discipline are necessary.
Being lack on these things is both anti-American and anti-man..
