You don't send your child to fight your battles.
Actually I agree with this in part.

I think the teacher is definitely at fault.

I also think the mother is as well. I have severe issues with parents attempting to push their political views in an extremely strong way, from either side, to the point where it will cause their children problems. This is essentially the parent trying to "Stick it to the man" through her child and I've got significant issues with that as well. That doesn't excuse the teacher, but the parent isn't blameless.

You are the one that wants to take the freedom away from the little girl.

Served? As a supply clerk on a ship you probably didn't see a whole lot of combat, now did you? I have never seen anyone brag about serving like you do. Makes me wonder if you really did.

Child escorted out of class by police for sitting during the pledge, mother outraged How about we try to talk about the story rather than about the size of our dicks?

Well, if you want to get technical, a state is a geo-political designation which a government rules over and a nation is the collective body of people within a specific region that share a cultural identity and history.

Essentially, a nation is a social construct a state is a political construct.

What's your point anyway? That socialists don't believe in shared cultural identity or history?

Roll modeling is not coercion, there's absolutely nothing wrong with telling children they should recite the pledge. There is absolutely nothing on this earth you can do to move me off that position.

This doesn't come close to being an example of role modeling. Role modeling is leading by example, like when a parent recites the pledge and the child copies the parent. Nothing like that happened here.
If you expect people to be rational, you aren't being rational.

Your post 163 was not talking about that teacher's actions for me to then call the teacher's actions roll-modeling.

You were going off on some over-generalized tangent.

Your average, typical teacher encouraging students to stand, salute the flag and recite the pledge by doing it themselves and giving positive support to others who choose to do so is roll-modeling and there's nothing wrong with that.

Except where there is coercion by the threat of punishment for not complying.
