15 billion dollars does nothing for the economy in general. what a farce to give that impression.

CBO: Stimulus bill added up to 2.1 million jobs - Economy at a Crossroads- msnbc.com

WASHINGTON - The massive stimulus package passed last year to blunt the impact of the worst U.S. recession in 70 years created up to 2.1 million jobs in the last three months of 2009, the non-partisan Congressional Budget Office said Tuesday.

The package boosted the economy by up to 3.5 percent and lowered the unemployment rate by up to 2.1 percent during that period, CBO said.

Those of you who are criticizing the bill as being useless tax cuts:

Why is it always about "what the Democrats want" and stopping Obama from making any progress? Why is every "liberal agenda" or intention viewed as negative? Why is every effort to make this problem go away stalled?

Can you not see that there is a serious problem? What has to be done for you to sympathize with the suffering people enough to get off your high horse, stop complaining about the bills that Democrats are TRYING to get passed to HELP AMERICANS IN NEED, and make a suggestion or two? Stop tearing down the efforts to make positive changes and make an effort to better your country.

you don't find this number a little fishy? without the stem, an additional 2 millions would have been lost? what about the pryor 3 months? those losing their jobs had come down greatly since the beginning of the year.

if this number were true there would have been a good increase in job gains during the last 3 months of the year, but that wasn't the case. your talking on average of 700,000 jobs per month, that's as many jobs as we were losing at the height of the recession.

Well the CBO is supposed to be non partisan. I really don't know if the stimulus is doing any good or not, for no one knows where we would be without it.
It just seems like some are terrified that Obama will be successful in pulling us out of this crisis. I don't agree with his policies but I do hope they work.

Re: Senate advances jobs bill after collecting five GOP votes

no one's terrified obama will pull us out, everyone's anxiously waiting for things to get better, in which case he'll rightly get the credit

but now things are getting worse, much, much worse

and most economists are not real optimistic looking into the near term future

the long term, on the other hand, is terrifying, with the tens of T's of unfunded liabilities in the form of all those super popular entitlements our progressives invented in previous decades, the bills for which must soon come due

around the time of the baby boomers?

    and beyond?

    remember?

as for the stimulus, no one knows how many jobs were "created," how many "saved"

i don't think the white house has straight in their own addled heads exactly what "created" and "saved" mean to themselves, what if any distinction

we know obama abandoned use of the fuzzy terms in january

Farewell ?Saved or Created?: Obama Administration Changes the Counting of Stimulus Jobs* - Political Punch

valerie jarrett, whom rahm the ram ripped in dana milbank's piece, said "thousands" of jobs were prestidigitized by the RECOVERY ACT

"stimulus" is another word the white house no longer uses

the president's own web site has 640,000

cbo has no idea how many jobs, no one does

the white house, among all its other failures, has done an absolutely horrendous job of accounting all this spending and sposed hiring

even worse they're performed when it comes to communicating these crucial details to the american people, whom the white house clearly has little respect for

they are supposed to be. they are good at telling us what the government has already spent, but not much more. stem has been good for state governments to some extent of helping them with there own deficits.

i'm not terrified that the economy will recover under Obama. in fact i want it to, it's good for MY job.

i'll give the economy the credit for it's recovery for the most part rather than something the federal government has done.
