Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building (that houses the FBI)

Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building | kvue.com | Austin News, Local News, Breaking News, Weather | Local News

A small single-engine plane crashed into a building in Northwest Austin Thursday morning, sparking a fire.

The crash happened near MoPac and Highway 183.

Smoke could be scene pouring from the a building in the Echelon complex on traffic cameras and in photosgraphs send in by KVUE viewers and reporters.

KVUE’s Noelle Newton reports most of the windows are blown out. People were evacuated. There is so far no word on how many people have been injured. A witness told KVUE that it didn't appear the plane was having any trouble before it crashed.

Firefighters say they have made several rescues, but so far two people are unaccounted for.

Officials say an FBI field office is housed in the complex, but it was not hit. They say this appears to be accidental.

Accidental? Not far from Fort Hood? CNN seems to have made it a mere sidenote that the FBI is housed in this complex, which doesn't seem such a sidenote to me.

Terrorist attack?

Re: Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building (that houses the FBI)

Early reports that the building housed the FBI field office in Austin later turned out not to be true. An FBI spokesman told Fox News that the FBI office in Austin is near where the plane crashed, but not in the same building

The FBI spokesman also told Fox News that as of 10:30 a.m. local time. there was nothing to indicate that this targeted the FBI or that the crash was terrorism-related.

"The building lies along a flight path," the spokesman said, so right now it looks like an "accident."

Looks like the early reports were false. The FBI building is close, but not the same building.

That's because you're paranoid.

What does Fort Hood have to do with this? Are you suggesting that because a crazy man shot people at Fort Hood that it increases the chance this is an intentional attack? Guilt by proximity?

Small engine planes crash all the time. It seems like an ineffective terrorist method to crash one into a building, hardly on par to the 911 attacks

Re: Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building (that houses the FBI)

Well, the video of that building shows it's pretty damaged... I'm curious if we'll see threads down in tinfoil-hat land about how the Obama Admin ran a test run of a drone attack in broad day light in prep for the next "terrorist attack".

Re: Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building (that houses the FBI)

A more effective terrorist activity would be that wait outside the building and shoot the exact people you want to shoot as they're going to their cars at the end of the day. That would be cheaper, easier, and more effective. An added bonus would be that you wouldn't have to commit suicide carrying out the attack... ;)

The same thing happened after those 4 cops were killed near Seattle. Some people were obsessed by the fact that the killings took place just outside McChord AFB ..therefore it must be a terrorist attack.

People are just too paranoid these days; just like they were in the 50's at the height of the commie witch hunts.

Paranoia will destroy ya'. Fact is, at this time, there are no facts surrounding the crash, other than it was a crash. Let's wait for more information to come in before speculating on why it happened.

I'm with you. But tell me that's not the first thing you thought of.

It is. But then, after a few seconds, reason took over.

Re: Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building (that houses the FBI)

Fox News reports the NTSB says the pilot set his own house ablaze then piloted the plane into the office building which also houses the IRS office.

Re: Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building (that houses the FBI)

Small single engine planes are not going to inflict serious damage, and therefore make lousy weapons for terrorism. Plus, a random FBI field office is a bizarre target.

Barring further information, it's not terrorism. Dude crashed. It happens.

Communists!!! They're EVERYWHERE!!!!

Oh wait, we're on terrorists now, right?

IF that's the case, then it's a spectacular suicide.

Indeed. FNC also reports the plane was a Cherokee 140. Here's a pic of a 1972 Cherokee 140.

A Cherokee?! Al-Q has infiltrated our Native Americans!

Re: Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building (that houses the FBI)

I just received a breaking news e-mail from CNN that the guy lit his house on fire before getting into the plane and crashing it.

Re: Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building (that houses the FBI)

Lets please hope that all the people who (reasonably and understandably) said "hold on and wait for all information to come out) with regards to terrorism are equally doing it when the potentially likely droans of people coming in here blaming this on the "tea parties" and "the right wing" ala the federal worker that was found hung.

Re: Plane crashes into Northwest Austin building (that houses the FBI)

^^^When the suspect was brown and muslim conservatives couldn't jump on the terrorism angle fast enough.

Fox News reports the NTSB says the pilot set his own house ablaze then piloted the plane into the office building which also houses the IRS office.

So it was intentional.

I bet Fox News never brings up the terrorism angle. Wish I had a live stream for them.

Well, before you open your trap, you should ya know... engage the brain unit and get a stream of Fox...

Cause all their talking about (and it's on right behind me on my Television), is that this is likely a domestic terrorist attack if the reports are true the guy burned his home before taking off.

But hey, what do I know, I'm just watching Foxnews, you know more...
