Las Vegas Mayor Goodman rejects Obama invitation - KTNV ABC,Channel 13,Las Vegas,Nevada,News,Weather,Sports,Entertainment,KTNV.com,Action News .:.

Way to go Oscar. Well it's nice to see someone say no to Obama. So much for his magic. We can only hope it spreads as people are waking up to his shenanigans and lies.

Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) - Mayor Oscar Goodman has refused an invitation to meet with President Obama when he arrives in town on Thursday. Mayor Goodman called President Obama a slow learner after he told Americans not to blow money on a weekend in Las Vegas if they were saving to put their kids through college.

"I've got other things to do quite frankly for my constituents here in Las Vegas who rely on me to do the right thing as a mayor," explained Mayor Goodman.

Mayor Goodman has more important things like attend budget meetings during a major shortfall than meet with President Barack Obama when he visits Las Vegas Friday. That rejection comes even though he's invited by the White House.

"Were you surprised to get that invitation in light of comments you've made before and your opinion on him and what he says," asked Action News reporter Heather Klein.

"A little bit in the sense I would think they would know that I would say I'm not coming," said Mayor Goodman.

I like Obama, but it sounds like the mayor is doing his job. Obama said something that could potentially hurt LV's local economics and the mayor is working on what his constituents want, which is to promote and prosper the city.

Obama's Vegas-bashing comments last year, cost the state more than $500 million in lost tourism and gambling revenue, and thousands of jobs.

The office need to be respected but the liar in it.

Got a link to that? I am having trouble believing the words of a president have that much influence.

:spank:

Is that from WND or Beck?

BTW -- what was the exact Obama quote on LV.

Something about not gambling away the college tuition...

And that's bad advice because...??

Obama fails to say "I'm sorry" to Nevada for bashing Vegas a second time

It's in the 4th paragraph had you been watching Fox News and the Obamedia told the truth you would known this.

"What happened when he made that statement and because of the power of his words, Las Vegas lost four hundred conventions and business meetings," Gov. Gibbons said. "One hundred million dollar loss to the economy of Las Vegas. Now don't you think that it's high time that we try to do things to stimulate the economy instead of crushing the economy with your words."

Do you have any proof of this?

You know, I thought Bush was the worst president in history but not once did I take such joy in petty things that "went wrong" for him. I never ran to the internet to shout from the proverbial rooftops that AH HAH, 56% OF AMERICANS OPPOSE TAX CUTS FOR THE WEALTHY SIR!

Have any of you tried being really honest with yourselves and asking why, exactly, you take so much joy in any perception of fault or failure? I swear, sometimes I suspect that some of you would leap with joy upon hearing that the United States had finally collapsed under its own weight, that we no longer had a functioning government, and that we were about to be invaded by our former allies who want the money they loaned back, all because you'd get to blame it on that damned socialist president.

edit: regarding Vegas "losing" all of that money. Correlation is not causation. Maybe Vegas should remember that the economy is in the toilet, and that maybe in such a climate people aren't going to be as excited to risk what little they have left?

you worry way too much about "us," your vision is small like a teenage girl's

"we," meanwhile, operate on PRINCIPLE

Now if Mayor Goodman can just get to a tea party platform. He can make joe the plumber look like well, Someone who got caried away with election rhetoric and got used like drain-O, by shrewd manipulative populist goober mongers.Hmm I wonder if He gots a Pick up truck?

Deuce. I stand ready to, FLUSH, at a moments notice. You guys keep a governing and I'll keep a waitin. Surely it cant be much longer.

Do you have any proof of this?
Proof of this is nigh impossible. Last year, the economy was in a serious recession; so its logical that people and business would have less money to waste and throw away.
What the President said had little effect, but I agree with him and would have said the same.
This disrespectful Las Vagas mayor??
The city council should at least censure him, if they have balls.
Is he racist?
Probably.
Is he stupid?
Very!

If proof is impossible then the conclusion would be unsupported by evidence and thus worthless.

I think that when the President of the United States calls … you take the call!

Goodman is not serving his constituents or his country well.

Exactly how would it help his constituents to talk to Obama?

Oscar Goodman is a man of integrity and not star struck by the President.

I applaud him for taking care of the citys business instead of dropping everything for Obama.

I agree. He looks incredibly petty, unprofessional, and immature.

Because we're smart enough to understand that what Obama is trying to do will cripple this country beyond repair.

I don't want that. Do you?
