It would destabilize the region in a way that attacking Syria in 2007 or attacking Iraq in 1981 (during the Iran-Iraq war) wouldn't?

From the Israeli perspective, allowing Iran to obtain a nuke would be suicide.

And both sides know this, which makes me wonder; 'What does Iran gain by goading Israel into attacking?'

They will have to do what we tell them to, or risk annihilation.........
If they do attack, it will be with our blessing, which won't be official....

The Iranians aren't doing what we are telling them now and they know they are risking annihilation yet they continue.

Risky game of chicken or intentional suicide?

And if it is suicide what does Iran get out of it? Retaliation? How? If they are annihilated there is no retaliation possible. Persians may think differently than we do but they aren't crazy.

I have the idea they want to start a Global Holy War. The end of all wars and the end of the world. By sacrificing themselves in the first strike Iran might be destroyed but that would obligate ALL Muslims around the world to rise up to defend/avenge the first strike attack that would be waged by US and/or Israel.

Iran will eventually force Israel's hand, and Obama will probably leave our allies twisting in the wind, at least, that's what they think.

The majority of the Israeli public supports Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's foreign policy and settlement expansion, the War and Peace Index revealed Sunday.

    ...

The majority of those polled also said they support Netanyahu's foreign policy, with 53% saying they approved of the government's conduct. Some 33%, who also affiliated themselves with the Labor and Meretz parties, said they oppose the prime minister's foreign policy.

The survey suggests that the Jewish public's support of foreign policy derives from the perception the US President Barack Obama is pro-Palestinian, a notion 46% of the participants subscribe to; 31% believe that Obama is neutral and 7% said he is pro-Israeli.

Nevertheless, when asked if the US president is likely to preserve Israel's interests in the long run, only 26% said they believed he would do so, compared with 68% who believe he would not.

    Can't say I blame them...

Obama's foreign policy strategy for Iran has been an unmitigated disaster; Chavez, Putin, and Ahmadinejad are increasing their strategic leverage and political clout everyday, all at the expense of the United States and its allies.

The notion that Obama could turn on his charm and convince a bunch of sociopathic dictators to warm up to America is absurd. The only they thing they respect is strength, and Obama has very little...

    N. Korea had the luxury of not being next to Israel.

Oh for cripes sakes here we go again. What is it with you partisan hacks? Could you please at least stay with the thread subject instead of hijacking the thread and making it about your dislike of Obama?
