Israel Under Suspicion It Killed Hamas Man

I guess I don't see how this will impact anything long-term -- won't someone else just step in to fulfill that role? (Assuming that is the impetus behind the attack.)

Eventually, no one will want to replace the last dead guy, lest they share his fate. Wars are sometimes long affairs...

Why? Do you think there is an endless amount of people who are willing to get killed?
I don't think there's an endless amount of people, period. But I think Hamas and their supporters have shown that in the face of death or other threats they simply buckle down more. I can't recall any forceful method that has caused them to essentially "give up" (I could be wrong on that). And while at any given moment there is a finite number of people either in or supporting Hamas, it isn't static. How long/how much violence would it take to completely eradicate such a group, and is that the best means to achieve an end to the conflict?

The way I see it, there are a very limited amount of people who are capable of effectively fulfilling a command and control role within a terrorist organization. If we continue to kill those people, eventually, they'll just decide that it's not worth the risk of getting assassinated. I think that by killing these people now, we discourage the young from taking their place.

This is a generational conflict and we need to send a message to young Muslims in the Middle East, that is, there's no future in fighting the United States.

I agree, I just don't know that targeted assassinations is the way to go about it.

Resistance is futile. Resitance is futile. Resistance is futile.:x

I would frame it differently. There is no future in Islamism, a rigid ideology that embraces hatred and fanaticism.

Keep repeating thay until it sinks in.....;)

I agree with all of these statements...;)

That was for starters: An evil movement and ideology that subjugates women and seeks to set the Muslim world back 1,000 years. A movement that's tainting the faith of more than 1 billion people. A movement in which one can aspire to be assassinated or turn himself into charred hamburger with a waist satchel. A movement that is anathema to man's natural propensity to be free. A movement that, like the Shining Path, Khmer Rouge, and Tamil Tigers before it, is destined to end up on the scrapheap of history. Altogether, a dead end.
