We stole it from the Nazis, so no real harm there.

Well, no, we actually stole it from the Wermacht, not the Nazis. Two different orgs. And, not only did we borrow the design from the Wermacht, the Wermacht is still using the Machinegewehr as part of their TO&E.

To be fair, Germany beat everyone to the punch on all the neat war gadgets back then. Timing belt that light early fighters shoot through their own propeller, some nifty firearms, jet engines...

We even stole their scientists to build us a nuke!

Good inventors, those Germans. We should steal their school building crew, bring them over here and pay them to work for us. Oh wait.

Actually, we stole their scientists to build rockets.

It was a Frenchman that came out with the first patent and it wasn't a timing belt, it was an interupter gear that caused the gun to stop firing when the prop passed in front of the muzzle.

Well, then I am a globalist scum who holds that our nations decision makers must change the attitude about things.
Strange, that to see the obvious make me scum....is this the way people think???

As other have posted, our military should have the best.
The Germans proved that they can make the "best" during the second world war, we and the Russians beat them via sheer numbers, plus our political system was better..,which allowed for better troops who could think for themselves...
    Whatever happened??

Good to see so many capitalists support protectionism.
I refuse to accept the view that mankind is so tragically bound to the starless midnight of racism and war that the bright daybreak of peace and brotherhood can never become a reality. - MLK

Giving government contracts to American companies is just common sense, not protectionism.
