So let me get this straight. You believe a left-leaning rag hanging by a thread from bankruptcy is being honest about these people, who could not be less trusting of the Times' content and don't subscribe?

Do you really think all the people in that picture of Idahoans (is that what they're called) are going to grab their muskets, track to Washington, and start shooting up the place?

C'mon. This is a movement of everyday people who normally sit quietly and overly trust their government finally standing up to what they see is a dramatic and scary shift toward the Europeanization of America. Nothing more.

I suspect youre curmudgeonry is the result of watching your party's political power evaporating like a fart in a whirlwind.

Well yeah... what else have they got to do?
I think if Thomas Jefferson were looking down, the author of the Bill of Rights, on whats being proposed here, hed agree with it. He would agree that the First Amendment cannot be absolute. - Chuck Schumer (D). Yet, Madison and Mason wrote the Bill of Rights, according to Sheila Jackson Lee, 400 years ago. Yup, it's a fact.

They don't intend to, based on anything I have heard or read. Is there some kind of evidence to support this?

They don't and details indeed. Please answer the question if you can, how you arrived at the conclusion that the Tea Party intends to use firearms to overthrow the government? For a bonus you could throw in how you managed to arrive at that conclusion based upon the article you linked. I mean the article is pretty slanted and sprinkled with typical NYT hackery, but even this article from the NYT does not make the claim you have. So from where did you dream up that the Tea Party is going to use firearms to overthrow the government? Mr. Rogers' Bloviated Imagination Land?

WR is just another example of a handful of leftwing extremists on this site who just flame and troll. They have neither serious concerns nor a sense of humor, and therefore cannot be taken seriously. Politicians are very concerned about the Tea Partiers, precisely because they are ordinary citizens and not a group controlled by extremists.

Ahhh, now I see why WillRockwell is worried. "Hoarding guns and canned goods". That's what has you guys in an uproar? Hah!

Okay, let me try to put your minds at ease. "Hoarding" is not really what is happening. Obama was named "Top Gun Salesman of the Year" by an acquaintance of mine who owns a gun/arms business. With his election, gun sales went through the roof, not to prepare for armed revolt, but in anticipation that gun control legislation was much more likely with a Democrat control of the presidency and both houses of Congress. It has now tapered back off to normal levels because those who wanted guns have now purchased them.
As for storing food, I don't find anything abnormal about this, following the financial crisis we experienced in late 2008. When people go through upheavals in political landscape and concurrently the financial recession, many understand the possible implications long term. For many years, Mormons have been "preppers" (those who stay prepared for difficult times). I think that many people in this country became much more aware of what can happen in times of political and financial upheaval, and started storing non-perishables in case things continued to decline. There is absolutely nothing unreasonable about that.

Oh I know exactly who WR is and recall with great amusement quite a few of his previously posted brainfarts. This is a pretty good sized one! Despite the fact that we usually only see his backside moving away at Warp speed when one of his "theories" gets debunked, I thought it would be funny to point out the complete lack of any claim that the Tea Party is planning on using firearms to overthrow the government in this article. Mostly because it is sooooooooooo asinine. But hey, maybe he can supply us with "details" about this! Chuckle.

The coded calls for armed revolt are legion, and it would be easy to create a long list of citations with links. Since you will offer an excuse for every example I provide, I will save myself the research. I guess all these weapons are being horded to shoot squirrels.

Meanwhile, your beloved Democrats are dropping out of races like flies on a bug zapper. Carry on.
Five posts into the thread and the hyper-partisans are already trying to change the subject.

I guess they are not comfortable talking about a potential split in the GOP.

    I just bet you will.
